Telangana: KTR’s first signature in new secretariat to be on 2-BHK houses

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) revealed that the state Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) minister KT Rama Rao’s first signature in the new secretariat building will be for the underprivileged.
KTR will sign the file containing guidelines for the distribution of 2-BHK houses to one lakh people in the city at the newly-constructed state secretariat which is set to be inaugurated on Sunday.
The 2BHK houses are being constructed under the purview of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

The minister will be operating from this office on the third floor of the new building.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will inaugurate the secretariat on April 30 in a traditional ceremony, state minister Vemula Prashant Reddy said on Saturday.
Reddy said the building will expedite the completion of work and coordinate with the ministers, secretaries and officials.
“The older secretariat had blocks which were 70 years old, a few were 40 years old, and some others, built 20 years ago appear old and unorganised. The ministers, secretaries, and other officials used to sit at different blocks, which made the work a lengthy and challenging affair,” Reddy said.
“A file, which could have been cleared in one day, took four days to be processed. So, the CM decided to build a new Secretariat, which is the first of its kind in the country where the minister, secretaries, and other officials will sit together in one block,” he said, adding that it will help expedite the work.

Telangana: Harish Rao inaugurates 2BHK houses for 572 families

Hyderabad: State Health and Finance Minster of Telangana T Harish Rao inaugurated 572 double-bedroom houses at three locations in the Andole-Jogipet twin towns of Sangareddy district on Wednesday.
Rao said the state government would provide all kinds of infrastructure facilities in the 2- BHK colonies. After the request of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran, the minister assured funds to build internal roads and a water sump besides other facilities.
Rao added the state government would provide Rs 3 lakh to assist the homeless and promised more 2-BHK houses in the Andole constituency.

The minister also inaugurated a dialysis center with five beds in the Jogipet Government Hospital.

Telangana custodial death: Khadeer’s widow given 2BHK flat

Hyderabad: More than a fortnight after Mohammad Khadeer‘s custodial death due to torture by the Medak district police, his widow Farzana Khan (Siddeshwari) has been granted a two bedroom-house-kitchen (2BHK) flat. Her three children have also been admitted at the Telangana Minorities Residential School (TMRS).
AIMIM public relations officer Tauseef Mohammed said, “We have requested the state government to grant a government job to Khadeer’s widow and a compensation of Rs 50 lakhs to his family.” The All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has taken up the issue with the state government since it was reported, and pressed for compensation.
Tauseef said that the file has been sent to the Telangana chief secretary Santhi Kumari for approval. “The request is still under process. We expect a decision soon in this matter within a week,” Tauseef said. The AIMIM has also extended financial support of Rs 1.5 lakhs to Khadeer’s family from its Majlis Charity Educational and Relief Trust.
“We have also approved the admission of Khadeer’s three children under the Telangana Minorities Residential School (TMRS),” Tauseef told Siasat.com.
Mohammad Khadeer was a 35-year-old daily wage labourer who was allegedly thrashed in the custody by the Medak police. He was kept under police custody for five days and later under house arrest with no medical help.
Khadeer was admitted to the Medak hospital with serious injuries. He was later shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad owing to multiple fractures, dislocation of the spine, and renal failure in his body. However, he died on February 17.

Hyderabad: GHMC receives over 7L applications for 2BHK homes

Hyderabad: A total of 7,09,718 applications were submitted for the allotment of double-bedroom houses within the limits of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal corporation (GHMC) limits.
GHMC has completed the process of evaluating the applications submitted for the allotment of 2BHK under the Telangana government’s housing scheme.
According to the GHMC officials, 3,44,310 applications have been processed which accounts for 48.51 percent of the lot and the remaining applications have not been processed as these were from other districts.
“Also, there were some requests that are excluded citing errors. In some applications, the address and phone number were missing,” the official added.
As per the GHMC data, 1,03,499 applications were filed from outside GHMC limits of which 12,568 applications were from Secunderabad Cantonment Board limits while the rest 26,327 applications are pending to be processed due to lack of address on them.
Among the six zones of GHMC, Kukatpally zone received the highest quota for 2BHK with 1,29,749 applications filed for it, followed by Charminar zone with 1,13,729 applications while Secunderabad secured third place in submitting applications.

Denied 2BHK house, man attempts self-immolation in Telangana

Hyderabad: A man from Choppadandi Mandal attempted to set himself on fire on Friday, over the alleged unfairness of the allocation of a 2 BHK house at the NTR statue circle in the mandal headquarters.
Living in Choppadandi for the past 50 years, Chidyala Suresh said that his name was not on the list of recipients of the double-bedroom homes and that officials had deleted it because they viewed him as an outsider. He also produced his ration card and Aadhaar card to demonstrate that he was a permanent resident.
The environment became tense and chaotic as a result of Suresh’s attempt to set himself on fire by dousing himself with fuel. Party workers raced to the spot and stopped the suicide attempt as a nearby BJP corner meeting was taking place at the time of the occurrence. As the official list of allocations for 2BHKs was leaked and publicised on social media, residents reacted in disbelief.
