Tokyo: The population of Japan dropped to 124.95 million in 2022, marking the 12th consecutive year of decline, latest government data revealed on Wednesday.
As of October 1 last year, the total population including foreigners saw a decrease of 556,000, or 0.44 per cent from the previous year, according to the data released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
The number of Japanese nationals, which came in at 12.2 million, plunged by 750,000, the decline of which has been expanding since 2011, Xinhua news agency reported citing the Ministry as saying.
The figure represented the largest comparable decline since data became available in 1950.
In the latest count, the number of people under the age of 15 came to 14.5 million, making up for the lowest-ever 11.6 per cent of the population, while those aged 65 or over totaled about 36.23 million, slightly up from a year earlier to account for 29 per cent of the total.
Of the total population, males accounted for 48.6 per cent with a fall for the 15th consecutive year, while the female population saw the 12th consecutive year of decline to account for 51.4 per cent.
The population sex ratio, or the ratio of males to females in a population, was 94.7, with females outnumbering males by 3,431,000, the data showed.
Japan’s total population fell below the previous year’s level for the first time in 2005, then peaked in 2008, and has declined for 12 consecutive years since 2011, the Ministry’s report said.
With a declining birthrate and an aging population, a shrinking workforce and a greater financial burden on the medical and social security systems are posing challenges to the country.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has on multiple occasions promised to focus on policies related to children this year, vowing to tackle the low birthrate through “unprecedented” steps.
In the latest move to tackle the falling birthrate, the government put into operation a new administrative body Children and Families Agency to better serve the country’s child-related policies.

DigiLocker is another method for checking CBSE results. Students can download the app and register on the website digilocker.gov.in. On the day of the results, links to check scorecards will be displayed on DigiLocker’s home page. Registered students will be able to view and download digital copies of their grade sheets, pass certificates, and other documents from the same platform. Go to the official website of the DigiLocker, digilocker.gov.in
On the homepage, you will see a banner that reads as ‘CBSE Result 2023 Class X and XII, Activate Your DigiLocker Account Now’
Click on the banner and you will be taken to a ‘DigiLocker Account Confirmation Page’
If you already have a DigiLocker account, enter the details like Security PIN (provided by your school), OTP, mobile number, etc and hit the ‘Account Confirmation’ option. This way, you will be able to access the digiLocker account and check your results
Candidates who do not have a DigiLocker account yet should go to the ‘Sign up’ option and click on it, a ‘Sign up’ page will be displayed on the screen
Enter your personal details like name, D.O.B, gender, mobile number, security pin (provided by school), and aadhaar number
Hit the ‘Submit’ option and your new Digilocker account will be created
Once the account is created, you can follow the above mentioned steps to access your CBSE result and the important documents

The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education has released the practical centre notice/datesheet for the HSE-II (Class 12th) session annual regular 2023 examination. The notice has been released for the Sub-Office Anantnag domain, specifying the centres and dates for the practical examinations.

According to the notice, the practical examinations will be conducted for the following examinees at the centres mentioned against their roll numbers as per the below-mentioned schedule. The examination will commence at 2:00 PM.
The practical examinations for HSE-II (Class 12th), session annual regular 2023 in the Sub-Office Anantnag domain are scheduled to commence from April 6, 2023.

Age Limit:
Applicants for both positions must be within the age range of 18 to 27 years.
Selection Process:
The selection process for both positions involves two phases of examination: Phase I and Phase II.
The Phase I exam for Social Security Assistant (SSA) will consist of 600 marks worth of questions and a time limit of 2 hours and 30 minutes. On the other hand, Phase II for SSA will be a computer-based data entry test.
For the Stenographer position, the Phase I exam will comprise of 800 marks worth of questions and a duration of 2 hours and 10 minutes. The Phase II exam will be a stenography test.

Srinagar, Mar 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) Thursday released date sheets of 10th to 12th standard annual regular exams in hard area zones of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Union Territories.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the exams in the hard zones will commence from April-08.
BOSE has said that exams of vocational subjects for class-10 will commence from April-08 while the exams for core papers will begin from April-10.
The examination of 10th standard in hard zones culminates on May-04 in core subjects and May-09 in other subjects.
Likewise, the examinations of 11th standard in the hard zones commences from April-12 and culminates on May-14,
Similarly, the annual regular board exam of 12th standard in hard zones begins from April-11 and culminates on May-15 respectively.
Pertinently, the BOSE had identified 444 such schools in the both divisions of Jammu and Kashmir for which annual regular examinations will be held in the month of April instead of March.
Besides, the Board has also declared the whole Leh district of Union Territory of Ladakh as a hard zone and has accordingly directed to conduct the exams in the Month of April.
It had also said that the annual regular examination of hard zones or such areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh shall be held in the month of April.
“Result of annual regular examination of Kashmir Division and Jammu division and Union territory of Ladakh including hard zones shall be declared simultaneously in the month of June,” BOSE said in a previous notification—(KNO)
