School Edu Deptt to implement Students Police Cadet scheme for 8th, 9th class students

DSEK seeks list of already identified students

Srinagar, Mar 03 (KNO): Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir are all set to implement the Students Police Cadet (SPC) Scheme among the students of 8th and 9th standard.

In this regard, OSD with Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has sought details of already identified students from Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of the region.

The news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has leant that the OSD in a letter to CEOs has said, “I am directed to request you to furnish the list of already identified students of 8th and 9th class for Implementation of SPC scheme in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.”

The officer has further said that the list should reach DSEK by or before March-6-2023.

According to the official documents, more than 1400 students of classes 8th and 9th have been identified from all districts of the region.

Pertinently, SPC project is a school-based youth development initiative that trains high school students to evolve as future leaders of a democratic society by inculcating within them respect for the law, discipline, civic sense, empathy for vulnerable sections of society and resistance to social evils.

The project also enables youth to explore and develop their innate capabilities, thereby empowering them to resist the growth of negative tendencies such as social intolerance, substance abuse, deviant behavior, and anti-establishment violence.

Equally, it strengthens within them commitment towards their family, the community, and the environment—(KNO)

Now Positive Pay System (PPS) has been made mandatory for customers to make cheque payments of Rs 5 lakh or more. This change will come into effect from April 5 next month.

It is necessary to give details of cheque in PPS

Earlier, it was necessary to give the details of the cheque in the Positive Pay System (PPS) for payment of cheque of Rs 10 lakh and above. The statement said that PPS is a system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Under this, customers have to confirm the necessary details while issuing chequs of a certain amount.

    Additional security to avoid risk

These details include account number, cheque number, cheque alpha code, date of issue, amount and beneficiary name. This provides additional security to avoid any risk while making payment of large amount of cheques. The bank said that customers can avail this facility by giving cheque details through branch office, online banking, mobile banking or SMS banking.

Availing the facility at the option of the account holder

As per RBI guidelines, PNB had earlier introduced PPS for cheque of Rs 50,000 and above presented in CTS clearing from January 1, 2021. It was also said on behalf of RBI that it is at the discretion of the account holder to take advantage of this facility. Banks may consider making it mandatory for cheque of Rs 5 lakh and above.

    What is Positive Pay System

Meet IAS officer Anju Sharma, failed in school exams, cracked UPSC at 22 in first attempt

Cracking the UPSC exams is one of the toughest things to achieve. A lot of hard work, perseverance, and patience is needed to clear the Civil Services exam. Today, we will tell you about IAS officer Anju Sharma’s grit, who had failed in a few subjects in Class 12 but then went on to achieve success by clearing the UPSC exam at the age of 22. She turned her failure into one of her biggest successes.

Anju Sharma had failed the Economics Paper in Class 12 and also failed her pre-boards in chemistry in Class 10. Apart from these two subjects, she passed all the others with distinction. She said that no one prepares you for failures but only success.

She, however, believes that these two incidents in her life shaped her future. A leading daily once quoted Anju Sharma as saying, “During my pre-boards, I had so many chapters to cover and it was almost post-dinner when I started panicking because I was unprepared and I knew I was going to fail. Everyone around me stressed the fact that how the performance of 10th grade is crucial as it determines our higher studies.”

Anju said that during such a difficult time in her life, her mother stood by her side and motivated her. She also learned the lesson that one shouldn’t depend on last-minute studies which is why she started preparing for the college exams in advance which helped her become a gold medalist in her college. She completed her BSc and her MBA from Jaipur.

This strategy also helped her crack the UPSC exam on the first attempt. She completed her syllabus well in advance and got placed on the list of IAS toppers.

Anju started her career as Assistant Collector, in Rajkot in 1991. She is currently Principal Secretary to Government Education Department (Higher & Technical Education), Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar

She has held various posts like DDO Baroda, as Gandhinagar, District Collector, and also in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Government of India; NRHM in three decades of her service.
