Both way Traffic To Be Allowed On Wednesday: Officials

Srinagar, Feb 14 (GNS): After opening for single-way traffic at 10 a.m. following nightlong closure, the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir valley with the outside world, was again closed due to shooting stones in Rambagh.

“Shooting stones continued for the entire day as we struggled to clear the stranded vehicles. We even tried to allow them on one to one basis but shooting stones did not provide breathing space,” Mohita Sharma, SSP Traffic Highway, said. “LMVs are advised not to travel at night as it is unsafe amidst shooting stones,” she said as per GNS.

A traffic department official told GNS that there was no let up in shooting stones at Mehar-Cafeteria in Ramban. He said that subject to fair weather and road clearance, both way traffic shall be allowed on the thoroughfare. He, however, said that people should contact traffic control units before starting travel on the highway. (GNS)
