SRINAGAR: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday conferred Padma awards to recipients of this year’s honors at a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The conferment of these awards, including three duo cases (which are counted as one award), had been approved by the President on the eve of Republic Day, totaling 106 recipients.
On Wednesday, more than 50 individuals were bestowed with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri awards.
In the civil investiture ceremony, Ghulam Mohammad Zaz was honored with the Padma Shri award in the Art category, recognizing his exceptional skills as a Kashmiri artisan.
Ghulam Mohammad Zaz, is a Kashmiri master craftsman who specializes in the manufacture of handmade musical instruments like Sitaar, Rabab, Tawoos, and Santoor. He is widely recognized across the country and overseas for his role in manufacturing quality musical instruments, especially Santoor.
