‘Hit with rods at his head’: Kashmiri truck driver assaulted in Punjab

A Kashmiri truck driver was allegedly assaulted in Punjab’s Makerian area by the operators of a toll post without any provocation, Jammu Kashmir Truck Operators Welfare Union said on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, they said, Yesterday an incident took place at Makerian Toll plaza Punjab in which a truck driver named Sahil Maqbool a resident of Kulgam was ruthlessly beaten by the employees of Mekerain Toll plaza and one employee even hit him with a rod on his head by which he received very serious injuries.

In this connection, JK Truck Operators Welfare Union held a meeting in their Anantnag office to discuss these types of incidents which take place time and again, the union said.

The President JK Truck Operators Welfare Union has appealed to the LG Manoj Sinha to discuss the issue with Punjab Government.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged at the Police station in the area.
