MP: Goods train collide in Shahdol, 2 workers feared trapped

Shahdol (Madhya Pradesh): The driver has been injured and two workers are feared trapped after two goods trains collided with each other near Singhpur railway station in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday, officials said.

The engines of the trains caught fire after the collision. All trains on the Bilaspur-Katni route were affected, the officials said.
Rescue operations are currently underway. Further details are awaited.

Telangana: Uncle forces nephew to drink poisoned beer, dies

An uncle poisoned his 22-year-old nephew in Dendepalli of Mancherial district for showing affection towards his daughter even after repeated warnings.
According to police, the deceased – M Anil – would often talk to his uncle’s daughter Kaveri. On April 14, his uncle Rajamouli forced Anil to drink beer laced with pesticide.
Anil was rushed to the hospital where his video statement was recorded by his family members. Anil alleges that Rajmouli called him Modela and forced him to deer the poisoned beer at knifepoint.

Anil however succumbed to his death two days later. The Luxettipat police have registered a case and arrested Rajamouli based on Anil’s father’s complaint. Further investigations are on.

Telangana starts administering booster doses of Covid vaccine

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Wednesday commenced administering booster doses as a precautionary measure in view of increase in Covid-19 cases.
The state government has arranged 5 lakh doses of Corbevax, manufactured by Hyderabad-based Biological E.
The state government has made all arrangements to administer the vaccines to all the eligible citizens at government Covid vaccine centres like primary health centres and urban primary health centres.

Director of Public Health and Family Welfare G. Srinivasa Rao said the doses have been arranged in view of the rise in Covid cases in many countries around the world as well in some states within the country.
Corbevax can be administered as a precautionary dose to those beneficiaries who have taken Covaxin or Covishield as first and second dose. The government of India has already approved Corbevax for heterologous administration.

The state government had last month written to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to provide additional Covid booster shots for the state. However, with the Centre asking the states to directly procure Covid vaccines and booster shots from the open market, the Telangana government had decided to procure 15 lakh does from Hyderabad-based Biological E to resume vaccination.

Telangana is witnessing an increase in Covid cases for the last few days. The daily count has almost doubled in the last one week.

On Tuesday, the state recorded 52 cases, up from 41 the previous day. The number of active cases has also gone up from 269 to 281.
Hyderabad logged 21 new Covid cases on Tuesday. The state’s Covid recovery rate remained at 99.48 per cent.

Hyderabad: Telangana assembly elections are likely to be held any time after June. According to the sources, the Election Commission can take steps to take control of the state any time after June
According to the rules, the Election Commission can issue a notification with an election schedule six months before the completion of the term of the Assembly in any state.
Political pundits say that Election Commission in Telangana has the power to release the schedule of elections after June and the commission officials in the city have also reviewed the preparations for the assembly elections a couple of days back.

On the other hand, it is being said that the BJP is not ready to give more time to KCR in Telangana and the election regulations can be fully utilized.
According to the sources, a plan has been charted out for BJP to do better in the Telangana elections. BJP leadership is in favour of early elections or advocating Telangana elections along with the general elections in the country.
Apart from this, there is also speculation of elections in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana simultaneously.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has started preparations for the 2023 Assembly elections in Telangana. A team of three senior officials led by Deputy Election Commissioner Nitish Kumar Vyas reached Hyderabad on Saturday to review the arrangements. Commission officials met Chief Electoral Officer Vishwaraj and others.

In the meeting, Nitish Kumar Vyas reviewed the inclusion and exclusion of voters’ names besides updating the voters’ list. He asked the office bearers to keep an eye on the voter list and ensure preparation of defect-free list.

Telangana creating wonders in health sector: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Telangana State is creating wonders in the health sector and even the Niti Ayog has also appreciated the progress of Telangana, Minister for Health T Harish Rao said.
Speaking to media reports after laying a foundation stone for the 100 bed hospital at Choutuppal in Nalgonda district on Tuesday, Minister Harish Rao said the State government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was taking various steps to improve the health standards in Telangana and reminded that it had launched eight medical colleges in the last year and 102 kidney dialysis centres across the State for providing the best services to the people.
Accusing the BJP government at the Centre of showing discrimination towards the Telangana in allocation for funds, Harish Rao said that the State government had allocated 200 acres of land to AIIMS Bibinagar in 2018, but the Centre had taken four years to inaugurate the hospital.

“The BJP leaders do less work but publicise themselves much. They want to take credit for even small works,” he pointed out.
He also informed that the works of Warangal health city project was going on at the brisk pace and its project would be completed by December.
