Hyderabad: CBI continues questioning Kadapa MP in Viveka murder case

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continued questioning Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy, his father Y. S. Bhaskar Reddy and their follower Uday Kumar Reddy for a third day on Friday in former minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case.

While Avinash Reddy appeared before the CBI officials, his father and Uday continued to be grilled for the third day in CBI custody.

The duo was brought from Chanchalguda Jail to the CBI office. A court had sent them to six-day custody of CBI.

The CBI officials were questioning the accused about the reasons for the murder, events of the day when the crime was committed and their movements on the day.

Avinash Reddy, the cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has to appear daily before the CBI till April 25, as per the direction of the Telangana High Court.

This was the fifth time that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP appeared before the CBI.

The Telangana High Court had on Tuesday directed the CBI not to arrest Avinash Reddy till April 25.

In its interim order on the anticipatory bail petition of the MP, the court directed him to appear before the CBI daily till April 25.

The CBI had summoned Avinash Reddy for questioning on April 17 but the agency twice deferred the questioning due to hearing of his anticipatory bail petition.

The final order on the anticipatory bail plea will be delivered on April 25.

Bhaskar Reddy was arrested by the CBI on April 16 while his follower Uday Kumar Reddy was arrested on April 14 in Pulivendula town of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. Both were brought to Hyderabad where a court sent them to judicial custody.

Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy, was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, a few days before the elections.

The 68-year-old former state minister and former MP was alone at his house when unidentified persons barged in and killed him.

The CBI took over the investigation into the case in 2020 on the direction of Andhra Pradesh High Court while hearing a petition of Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Suneetha Reddy, who raised suspicion about some relatives.

The Supreme Court transferred the case to Hyderabad in November last year after Suneetha Reddy raised doubts about getting a fair trial and investigation in Andhra Pradesh.

With the Supreme Court setting April 30 as the deadline for the CBI to complete its investigation, the agency has expedited the probe with the arrest of Bhaskar Reddy and Uday Kumar Reddy and questioning of Avinash Reddy.

8-yr-old boy murdered in Hyderabad, family suspect human sacrifice

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: An eight-year-old boy was brutally murdered in Hyderabad in what his family has suspected to be a case of human sacrifice. But the police said they have no evidence of it.

The body of Abdul Wahid was found in a drain in Moosapet early Friday.

The boy went missing on Thursday from his house in Allauddin Koti area of Sanath Nagar and his family had lodged a complaint with the police.

    MS Education Academy

Police have arrested Imran, a transgender, and four others for the murder. The victim’s family ransacked his house and claimed to have found indications of a human sacrifice.

However, the police said the boy was murdered over a financial dispute between Imran and the boy’s father Waseem Khan, who runs a business of readymade garments.

After the boy went missing on Thursday evening, his father had lodged a complaint with the police. Based on CCTV footage in the area, police arrested Imran, who confessed to killing the boy and throwing the body in a drain.

According to the victim’s family, Imran had asked the boy to fetch ORS. When the boy, who was fasting, went to Imran’s house to give the ORS packet, the latter caught hold of him.

The accused strangled him to death by forcibly dipping his head in the bucket filled with water. After confirming the child had died, Imran, with the help of an auto-rickshaw driver, stuffed the body in the water bucket and a bag and threw it in the drain.

The murder led to high tension in the area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Srinivas Rao said dispute over financial matters led to the murder. He, however, said if the victim’s family suspects it to be a case of human sacrifice, they will probe the case from that angle as well.

Minister for animal husbandry T. Srinivas Yadav visited the areas.

He clarified that it was not a case of human sacrifice but assured the victim’s family that culprits will not be spared.

He said a fast track court will be constituted to ensure speedy trial and punishment.

  • Iran: More schoolgirls taken to hospital after poisoning

Iran: More schoolgirls taken to hospital after poisoning

    [ad_1]

Tehran: Gas and chemical attacks in Iran targeting mostly girls’ schools continued on Wednesday in several cities, including Tehran, VOA’s Persian service reported. Dozens of students were hospitalized.

According to the reports received by VOA and videos posted on social media, at least five schools in different provinces of Iran were attacked with chemical gases.

The serial poisonings of mostly female students began on November 30, 2022, in the city of Qom and have continued to spread across the country.

    MS Education Academy

In mid-March, Iran’s state media reported that more than 1,200 Iranian girls from at least 60 schools had become ill in the attacks. Human rights activists in Iran had put the number at more than 7,000 students.

On Tuesday, Amnesty International warned that the “rights to education, health and life of millions of schoolgirls are at risk amid ongoing chemical gas attacks deliberately targeting girls’ schools in Iran.”

Amnesty accused Iranian authorities of failing to adequately investigate and end the attacks and dismissing the girls’ symptoms as “stress,” “excitement” and/or “mental contagion.”

On Saturday, an Iranian official blamed the attacks on the mischief of students.

“The few cases of poisoning that occurred in [the] girls’ schools were very limited. The mischief of some students was to close the classes,” Seyyed Majid Mirahmadi, the deputy interior minister, said Saturday.

Another senior member of the government, Health Minister Bahram Einollahi, said there was no “solid evidence” to show that students were poisoned.

New Delhi: Micro-blogging site Twitter on Tursday removed the verified blue tick from many high-profile individuals’ account in India including West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s among others.

The only individual Twitter users who have verified blue checkmarks are those paying for Twitter Blue, which costs USD 8/month via the web and USD 11/month through the in-app payment on iOS and Android.

The other political figures who have lost the blue tick are Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.

    MS Education Academy

Besides them, political parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the Congress also lost their verification badges.

Due to the recent development, several B-town celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt and cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma among others have lost their verified blue ticks from their Twitter accounts.

Earlier it was announced that the microblogging site would remove the verified check-mark status of accounts that Twitter had been verified as notable before Elon Musk’s takeover unless they have subscribed to Twitter Blue or the business-focused Twitter Verified Organizations plan, Variety reported.

Initially, the blue tick served as a way of protecting well-known individuals from impersonation and tackling false information.

Earlier in March, Twitter posted from their official handle, “On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks. To keep your blue checkmark on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue.

Twitter first introduced the blue check mark system in 2009 to help users identify that celebrities, politicians, companies and brands, news organizations and other accounts “of public interest” were genuine and not impostors or parody accounts. The company didn’t previously charge for verification.

Musk launched Twitter Blue with the check-mark badge as one of the premium perks within two weeks of the company’s takeover last year.

Rahul was seen sitting on a chair along with some other UPSC aspirants while the rest of the students kept standing. Gandhi interacted with students for a few minutes, asking them about their ongoing preparations and expectations.

Mukherjee Nagar is one of the prominent UPSC coaching hub in the national capital. The 2023 Civil Services Preliminary exam will be held on May 28.
