No danga, UP mein sab changa: CM Yogi on law and order situation

    [ad_1]

Saharanpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday asserted that law and order in the state has improved under his government, and the state was now being identified by its grand festivals and not for the mafia.

Kicking off an election campaign for the upcoming urban body elections from Saharanpur, he spoke about the achievements of his government and charged that earlier governments were busy instigating riots.

Today, the state’s identity is festivals, not mafia and disorder, he said.

    MS Education Academy

Amidst loud applause from locals, the chief minister said Uttar Pradesh is not anyone’s property and that extortion will not be allowed.

There are no riots and curfews in Uttar Pradesh now and all is good, he asserted.

Lashing out at the previous governments, the chief minister said, “Before 2017, the governments here did not have time for anything other than creating riots but today there is no curfew in Uttar Pradesh. Now the Kanwar Yatra is taken out. Earlier, fake cases were lodged against the youth but now no one can do that.”

“Earlier daughters were afraid to leave their homes. Today, however, there is a fear-free atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

Making a fervent appeal to people to support BJP candidates in the upcoming urban body elections, Adityanath said, “This election is for connecting the third engine to the double engine government. Once that is done, the money that will come from Delhi will be put to good use.”

Cautioning the voters against other forces, he said, “We have to decide whether we want casteist governments which were in place before the 2017 period or a government which is dedicated to the welfare of the poor.

We all have to decide whether to have a corruption-ridden system or a corruption-free system. We have to decide whether the youths should have guns in their hands or tablets and smartphones. We have to decide whether there should be sound of gunfire in the streets or a change in the lives of people, he said.

“We have to decide whether we want extortion by hooligans or a system that provides self-financing to the poor. There should be a ‘Safe City’. ‘Bhajan Ganga’ (devotional hymns) should be our priority,” he said.

Adityanath said he is starting the election campaign from here to get the blessings of Maa Shakambhari.

“We gave the benefits of governance and schemes without discrimination, without seeing anyone’s caste, religion or face,” he said.

The chief minister said he has come here more than a dozen times in the last six years.

“I have seen with my own eyes the neglect of Saharanpur before 2017. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saharanpur is shining in front of the country and the world with a new aura of development. Soon, you will cover the Saharanpur-Delhi distance in two to two-and-a-half hours.”

The chief minister also gave details of the development plans for Saharanpur.

Iran says Blinken’s anti-Iran remarks aimed at selling US weapons

    [ad_1]

Tehran: The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman rebuked the remarks by the US Secretary of State about Tehran’s military programme, saying they are “aimed at marketing American weapons”.

Nasser Kanaani on Sunday made the response to a recent tweet by Antony Blinken, in which he said that they were “firmly committed to disrupting Iran’s military procurement activities”, Xinhua news agency reported, citing a statement published on the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website.

“The US State Secretary’s provocative remarks about Iran’s military programme are solely aimed at continuing marketing American armaments through spreading Iranophobia as well as sowing discord among regional countries,” Kanaani said.

    MS Education Academy

He reiterated that Iran’s military programme is “defensive and deterrent” in nature and not against any country that does not harbor the idea of “aggression” against Iran.

Kanaani blamed the US “unwise and erroneous” actions over the past decades as the sources of insecurity, instability and wars in the region, adding it will be in the US interest if it stops its “wrong, meddlesome and irresponsible” approaches toward the regional countries.

UP: Arif’s Sarus is female, zoo officials look for mate

    [ad_1]

Kanpur: After almost two and a half months of controversy, the Kanpur Zoo has finally declared that the sarus crane found by Arif of Amethi in an injured state in February 2022 and nurtured back to health, is a female.

The gender was revealed from the DNA report that arrived from a Secunderabad lab.

Zoo officials said that they are now trying to find a suitable mate for the sarus.

    MS Education Academy

Since it is a female, it is not likely that it will be released in the open.

The crane that had been living with Arif for the past one year, was taken from him by the forest department in March.

On April 16, Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) ornithologist Dr Rajat Bhargava took out a small feather from the chest of the crane and had sent it to Secunderabad for DNA examination and its gender was determined.

As per the zoo authorities, it will now be paired with a male sarus crane from the zoo.

Samples of four other sarus cranes in the zoo have been sent to the Secunderabad lab for gender testing.

“After the report arrives, the female sarus crane will initially be kept in an enclosure next to a male crane for socialisation and the behaviour of the female and its male counterparts will be monitored for 15 days. After that, it will be moved into the male crane’s enclosure for mating,” said Kanpur Zoo director K.K. Singh.

Lucknow: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has taken upon himself the task of uniting Opposition forces against the BJP-led government at the Centre, met Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday.

He left Patna to meet with his Bengal counterpart at her office in the State secretariat ‘Nabanna’ today.

He is also set to meet Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at the Samajwadi Party headquarters today at 4 pm, officials said.

    MS Education Academy

The Samajwadi Party’s National General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav and Shivpal Singh Yadav will also be present in today’s meeting.

Earlier on April 12, Nitish Kumar had met with Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and former MP Rahul Gandhi in the national capital.

The meeting was seen as the major step to laying the groundwork for a grand Opposition alliance ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Rahul Gandhi said it was a “historic step” towards Opposition unity and for an “ideological fight”.

Rahul Gandhi, who posted a picture of himself with Kharge and JDU and RJD leaders, said they are “standing together, will fight together for India”.

“In this battle of ideology, a historic step has been taken today towards Opposition unity. (We are) standing together, will fight together – for India!” Rahul Gandhi had said in a tweet after the meeting with the Bihar chief minister.

CM Mamata Banerjee is also leaving no stone unturned in closing in ranks with other parties ahead of the 2024 polls, as she met Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at her residence in Kolkata last month.

UAE: 2 Indian expats from Kerala killed in separate accidents

    [ad_1]

Abu Dhabi: Two Indian expats died in separate transport accidents during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays in the UAE, a media report said.

38-year-old Sharjah-based Abhilash, had gone boating with his colleagues in Khor Fakkan when the accident took place, the Khaleej Times newspaper reported.

Three other people, including a child, were injured in the accident with at least one of them in critical condition, the Sharjah Police said on Monday.

    MS Education Academy

There were 16 passengers on the boat when the accident took place, the report said, not mentioning the exact date or time of the accident.

Abhilash’s body is presently being kept at the mortuary in Khor Fakkan Hospital. He is survived by his wife and daughter.

In another accident, 35-year-old Subeesh Chozhiyamparambath, from Kerala was killed and two others severely injured when a car in which they were travelling crashed in Al Mafraq area of Abu Dhabi.

Subeesh from Palakkad was travelling from Al Samha to Mussafah for Eid shopping when he met with the accident on April 20.

An Abu Dhabi resident for the past two years, Subeesh worked at a landscaping company, and died exactly a month before turning 36 years-old.

“It was a multiple-car crash in the Al Mafraq area. Subeesh along with two others were sitting in the back seat. The car they were travelling in was hit. Subeesh is no more,” his cousin told Khaleej Times.

Of the two people travelling with Subeesh, one person has been admitted to the ICU with severe injuries, and another has sustained minor wounds.

“Subeesh got engaged. He was making plans to get married once he returned sometime later this year,” said a relative, adding that the Indian Embassy helped them finish necessary paperwork for repatriation.
