Islamic Preacher Zakir Naik to Give Religious Lectures at Qatar World Cup

    [ad_1]

Zakir Naik, an Islamic preacher and public orator who focuses on comparative religion, will reportedly deliver a speech in Qatar during the FIFA World Cup in 2022. The FIFA World Cup began in Qatar on Monday. Naik left India in 2016 after being charged with money laundering, inciting hatred between groups, and other offences.

According to Mint report, he has landed in Qatar and will be giving religious teachings throughout the competition.

Following the prohibition on his organisation, the Islamic Research Foundation, and his inclusion in a FIR, Naik left India in 2016. In Malaysia, where he had been residing after leaving India, he was likewise banned from giving public lectures in 2019. His Peace TV network is banned not only in India but also in Bangladesh, Canada, Sri Lanka, and the United Kingdom, according to The Tribune report. The ban in India was extended for an additional five years last week.

“Naik has also been further inspiring the Muslim youth and terrorists in India and abroad to commit terrorist acts,” the Ministry of Home Affairs notification had said while banning IRF.

The IRF has engaged in activities that the Union home ministry claimed are detrimental to national security, have the potential to disturb communal harmony and peace, and threaten the country’s secular fabric.

The Union government is of the opinion that the IRF and its members, especially its founder and president, Zakir Abdul Karim Naik alias Zakir Naik, have been encouraging and supporting their supporters to promote or attempt to promote, on the basis of religion, disharmony or feelings of enmity, hatred, or ill-will between different religious communities and groups that are prejudicial to the integrity and security of the nation, it said.

It is believed that Naik’s speech inspired the 2016 bombing in Dhaka, which killed 20, and the Easter 2019 bombing in Sri Lanka, which killed over 250 people, according to The Tribune.

News about Naik’s presence at the football world cup circulated over social media, as per NDTV. According to Al Arabiya News, a presenter for the Qatari state-owned sports channel Alkass, Faisal Alhajri, “Preacher Sheikh Zakir Naik is present in Qatar during the World Cup and will offer many religious lectures throughout the tournament.”

World Cup 2022: Iranian players opt not to sing national anthem at World Cup

    [ad_1]

In an apparent gesture of support for protesters at home, the Iranian national soccer team decided not to perform the national anthem before their opening World Cup match against England on Monday, Reuters reported.

According to the news agency, none of the starting 11 players reacted during the play of the national anthem at the Khalifa International Stadium.

State television in Iran then turned its feed away from their faces.

The team would decide “collectively” whether to refrain from singing in support of anti-government protestors, according to captain Alireza Jahanbakhsh, AFP reported.

The brief gatherings in support of the Iranian demonstrators were also seen in Qatar.

During the Iranian protests, the state police killed dozens of men and women.

  • Political Systems Across The World

    Political Systems Across The World

    [ad_1]

‌Political systems are the set of formal legal institutions that make up the government. A political system is the type of political organisation that can be accepted, observed, etc., and that is declared by a state. It is the process of making official government decisions. It may include not only security organisations but a variety of groups in society, such as kinship clans and caste or class stratification. When these smaller entities, like clans or tribes, transfer their dedication and loyalty to a bigger, typically central government, that is the defining trait of when a nation or state forms. A state is also a political system that has sovereignty.

‌Here we discuss the six types of political systems in the world:

    Monarchial

It is a political system where the head of state is one person who dominates forever and transmits power to their children or family when they die. The majority of monarchies mostly allow male succession, basically from father to son. The desire of a society to raise an indigenous ruler who will effectively represent its historical accomplishments and further its interests, whether it is a tribe, a city population, or a multi-tribal “people,” is another reason why monarchies develop. A monarchy is not the opposite of a democracy.

    Types of monarchies

    i. Absolute
    ii. Constitutional

    Absolute

An absolute monarch rules by whim, although he is not a tyrant or dictator. A true monarch may not be the real ruler, as state power might be wielded by ministers, regents, or advisors, with policy determined more by place intrigue than anything else.

    Constitutional

There are elected officials who make policy decisions, and a prime minister usually leads the government with the King or Queen as a figurehead. Many countries allow monarchies as their form of government. Some examples include Andorra, Bahrain, Belgium, Bhutan, Cambodia, Denmark, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Lesotho, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Morocco, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

    Theocratic

The word theocracy comes from the Greek words “theo,” which means “god,” “deity,” and “kratia,” which means “rule” or “governance.” and can therefore be understood as meaning “rule by God.” A theocratic political system is one in which the community’s religious leaders are in charge and make decisions. We can say that where the roles of priest and ruler are combined.

Generally, but not always, these rulers will state that they are acting purely on behalf of a divinity and are following the rules and laws of that divinity. Theocracies can take a number of different forms, depending on the relationship between the religious and political institutions. In some cases, the religious leaders may have direct control over the state, as in Iran under the Ayatollahs. In others, the religious leaders may act as advisers to the state, as in the case of the Mormon Church in Utah. However, some countries that might be considered to have theocratic political systems include Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the Vatican City.

Theocracies are often criticised for violating the separation of church and state. Critics argue that theocracies can be used to justify oppression and discrimination and that they can lead to religious extremism.

    Military

It is the type of political system in which military strongmen or junta rule. the understanding of the connections between political factors and military organisation development and behaviour, as well as how military organisations affect political decision-making. In certain situations, leadership is maintained with the help of foreign intelligence agencies, and in others, the rule is established by rejecting a public referendum that calls for the leadership to go. Military rule is crucial to clarify ordinary militarism. For example, some common characteristics of military rule include sacking the parliament and controlling the judicial branch.

Countries under military rule include Myanmar, Sudan etc. Pakistan was also under military rule till 2008.

    Democracy

It is the type of political system where ultimate power is vested in and exercised directly by the people under its rule. In other words, people have the authority to choose their governing representatives. This system is based on the principle of majority rule. Democracy allows people to participate equally—either directly or through elected representatives—in the proposal, development, and creation of laws. It encompasses social, economic, and cultural conditions that enable the free and equal practise of political self-determination.

Democracies are different from other forms of government, such as monarchies, dictatorships, and oligarchies, in that they allow for citizen participation in government. In a democracy, the government is held accountable to the people. This means that the government must listen to the people and respond to their needs and concerns. There are many countries that allow a democratic political system, including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and most European countries as well as India.

    Single party

A single-party political system is one where there is only one political party that has control over the government. A single-party political system is one in which only one party has significant power or influence. This party may be the ruling party, as in a one-party state, or it may be the only party allowed to contest elections, as in a single-party system. This type of system is often seen in countries that are ruled by dictatorships.

A dictatorship is a form of government in which one person or a small group of people have complete control over the country. The party in power is usually the one that has the most support from the people. There are many benefits to a single-party political system. First, it allows for a clear and consistent message from the party in power. This can be helpful in terms of both domestic and foreign policy. Second, it can lead to more efficient and effective government since there is less infighting between different factions within the ruling party.

Finally, it can create a sense of unity among the people, as they all share a common goal of supporting the party in power. The main function of a single-party political system is to give the ruling party absolute power to pass legislation and make executive decisions without opposition. This can be beneficial if the ruling party is competent and has the best interests of the country at heart. However, it can also be detrimental if the ruling party is corrupt or incompetent, as there would be no one to check their power. Countries with a single-party system include China, North Korea, Cuba etc.

    Transitional

A transitional political system is a system of government that is in a state of transition from one form of government to another. This type of system is often seen in countries that are undergoing a process of democratization. Transitional governments are often characterised by a number of features. First, they are often led by a transitional leader. This leader is typically someone who was not previously in power and who is seen as being more legitimate than the previous leader.

Second, transitional governments often have a more limited mandate than traditional governments. This means that they are often only in power for a limited period of time and that their authority is more limited than that of traditional governments.

Third, transitional governments often have a more complex political structure than traditional governments. This complexity can make it difficult for transitional governments to make decisions and implement policies.

Fourth, transitional governments often face significant challenges. These challenges can include a lack of legitimacy, a lack of popular support, and a lack of resources.

Finally, transitional governments often have to deal with a variety of different stakeholders. Countries that allow transitional political systems include Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, and Syria.

In this article we studied the types of political systems which are currently implemented across the world.

  • US Prez Joe Biden turns 80, Elon Musk restores Trump’s twitter

US Prez Joe Biden turns 80, Elon Musk restores Trump’s twitter

    [ad_1]

The US President, Joe Biden, is 80 today, which is one thing. On the other hand, Elon Musk restored access to Donald Trump’s account on Twitter on Saturday, lifting a ban that had prevented the former president from using the social media platform ever since a pro Trump mob attacked the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, as Congress prepared to certify Joe Biden’s election victory.

Following a vote asking Twitter users if Trump’s account should be reinstated, Musk made the announcement in the evening. With a majority of 51.8%, “yes” was chosen. Before deciding whether to reinstate suspended accounts, Musk had previously stated that Twitter would set up new rules and a “content moderation council.”

“The people have had their say. Trump will get his job back. Musk used the Latin term “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” which translates to “the voice of the people, the voice of God,” in his tweet.

Shortly later, Trump’s account, which had earlier looked to be suspended, returned on the platform with all of his prior tweets—more than 59,000 in all. At least initially, his supporters had vanished, but he quickly started getting them back. But as of late Saturday, there have been no new tweets from the account.

Less than a month after Tesla CEO Elon Musk took over Twitter and four days after Trump declared his campaign for the 2024 presidential election, Musk restored the account.

Trump may or may not truly come back to Twitter. Trump, who was an unstoppable tweeter prior to his suspension, has previously claimed that he would not return even if his account was reactivated. He has been relying on Truth Social, a far more modest social media platform that he started after being banned from Twitter.

Additionally, on Saturday, Trump mentioned Musk’s poll in a video address to a gathering of Republican Jews in Las Vegas, but added that he thought Twitter had “a lot of problems.”

“I hear we’re receiving a lot of support to also return to Twitter. I don’t see it because I can’t think of a good explanation for it, said Trump. He said, seemingly alluding to the recent internal turmoil at Twitter, “It may make it, it may not make it.”

Trump’s potential return to the platform comes in the wake of Musk’s purchase of Twitter last month, which sparked widespread worries that the site’s billionaire owner would enable the propagation of lies and misinformation. Musk has often stated his opinion that Twitter has become too censorship-heavy for free speech.

His attempts to redesign the area have been both quick and disorganised. Many of the 7,500 full-time employees and incalculable numbers of contractors who are in charge of content moderation and other critical duties have been fired by Musk. A large number of employees, including hundreds of software engineers, resigned as a result of his demand that the remaining staff promise to work “very hardcore.”

Following the mass layoffs and staff migration, users have noted more spam and frauds on their feeds and in their direct messages, among other issues. Twitter may soon deteriorate to the point where it could actually crash, according to some programmers who were fired or resigned this week.

More than 15 million people participated in Musk’s online survey, which was published on his personal Twitter account.

Musk acknowledged that the findings lacked much rigour. He tweeted early on Saturday that “Bot & troll armies might be running out of steam shortly.” “Some intriguing insights to improve polling in the future.”

He has employed Twitter polling before to help him make business decisions. Following a poll of his supporters, he decided to sell millions of shares of Tesla stock last year.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat from New York, tweeted a video of the uprising on January 6 in response to Musk’s poll on Trump. On Friday, she wrote that Trump’s last tweets “were used to fuel an insurrection, many people died, the US Vice President was almost assassinated, and hundreds were injured but I guess that’s not enough for you to answer the question.” It’s a poll on Twitter.

Two days after Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol and shortly after the former president urged them to “fight like hell,” he was denied access to Twitter. After Trump sent out two tweets that Twitter claimed raised concerns about the integrity of the election and threatened the inauguration of Vice President Biden, the website shut off his account.

Trump was also banned from Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram, all of which are owned by Meta Platforms, after the incident on January 6. Additionally suspended was his capacity to upload videos to his YouTube page. In January, Facebook plans to review its decision to suspend Trump.

Trump’s use of social media throughout his time as president presented a significant challenge to major social media platforms that aimed to strike a balance between the public’s desire to hear from public officials and concerns about false information, bigotry, harassment, and incitement to violence.

However, Musk claimed that Twitter’s move to block Trump was “morally awful” and “very idiotic” in a speech at an auto convention in May.

Musk announced earlier this month that the firm would not permit anyone who had been banned from the site to rejoin until Twitter had developed policies for doing so, including creating a “content moderation committee.” Musk completed the $44 billion buyout of Twitter in late October.

Musk tweeted on Friday that the comedian Kathy Griffin, the Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson, and the conservative Christian news satire website Babylon Bee have had their suspended Twitter accounts returned. He emphasised that a choice had not yet been made regarding Trump. On Twitter, he also replied “no” to a request to revive conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ account.

The Tesla CEO referred to the new content policy as “freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach” in a tweet on Friday.

He said that although a tweet that was regarded to be “negative” or to include “hate” would be permitted on the website, only users who explicitly looked for it would be able to view it. According to Musk, such tweets would also be “demonetized, so no adverts or other money to Twitter.”

Man Barks Like Dog In Protest As His Name Spelt As “Kutta” On His Ration Card

    [ad_1]

A man barking like a dog, pushing a stack of papers through the glass of a “Executive Magistrate” vehicle. The unrelenting barks and yowls continue till the official takes note of the paper. The video, which was shot at the state government’s Duarey Sarkar (government at your door) camp in Bengal’s Bankura, has gone viral.

The man said that his name on his ration card had been misprinted three times. The third time, it read Srikanti Kumar “Kutta” instead of Srikanti Kumar “Dutta.” “Kutta” means dog in Hindi, and Mr Dutta says he devised this unique protest when his previous requests were ignored, as per NDTV report.

So yet, the Bankura district administration have not answered.

“I’ve previously applied three times to correct my name on the ration card,” Mr Dutta told reporters.

“They referred to me as Srikanta Mondal the first time. I am not Mondal. I went to Duarey Sarkar and filed a rectification request. Then they changed my name to Srikanto Dutta from Srikanti Kumar Dutta. I applied to the Duarey Sarkar camp once more… On the 11th, I reapplied, and when I downloaded it, I saw that my name had been changed to Srikanti Kumar Kutta. I felt mentally harassed when I saw this. I went to the Duarey Sarkar camp again yesterday,” he was quoted as saying in the reports.

He saw a senior official in the camp, but even after chasing him down, the interview did not go as expected, according to Mr Dutta.

“I showed him my ration card. I asked him to read it. But the Joint BDO (Block Development Officer) did not answer my questions. He ran away. Why did he run? What was he scared of? How many times will a common man like me go to the Duarey Sarkar camp? We have to stop work for a day to come here,” Mr Dutta added.

Following that, he performed the stunt. According to him, the authorities have now assured him that his name will be corrected in two days.

  • Centre accords ‘X’ category CRPF armed security to four BJP leaders in Punjab

Centre accords ‘X’ category CRPF armed security to four BJP leaders in Punjab

    [ad_1]

Four Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have been given ‘X’ category armed security protection by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) by the Central government, top government sources claimed on Saturday.

After conducting a security analysis based on an Intelligence Bureau (IB) report indicating a threat to senior BJP leaders, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) ordered the CRPF to give “X-category” round-the-clock protection, reports news agency ANI.

Among the BJP heavyweights who supplied the security protection were former Punjab cabinet ministers Balbir Singh Sidhu and Gurpreet Singh Kanga, former MLA Jagdip Singh Nakai, and Amarjit Singh Tikka. All four leaders recently left the Congress and joined the BJP.

In October, the Centre also gave five BJP leaders in Punjab “Y” category security coverage based on a related IB report.

As a result of threat assessments based on IB reports, the MHA used to offer security services in the “X,” “Y,” “Y+,” “Z,” and “Z+” categories through Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) like the CRPF and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

VIP security protection has been entrusted to the CISF and CRPF by the MHA. Each of the two paramilitary organisations has its own elite VIP security division of commandos that is equipped with cutting-edge close-protection weapons.

  • After more than a century, Cricket will return in Olympics; a six-team T20 competition mooted to globalise cricket

After more than a century, Cricket will return in Olympics; a six-team T20 competition mooted to globalise cricket

    [ad_1]

With T20 cricket being one of the choices, the Los Angeles Olympics might see the return of cricket to the Olympic Games. After a 128-year hiatus, the International Cricket Council has proposed the move to “globalise” cricket. Men’s and women’s teams are both expected to compete in a six-team event.

According to the Telegraph, along with the 28 sports in the initial sports programme for Los Angeles 2028, cricket is one of nine other sports that have been shortlisted for inclusion. A final decision will be made in September of the following year, and the ICC will stop at nothing to reinstate cricket at the biggest sporting event.

In an effort to limit the number of athletes competing, the ICC has suggested a six-team event with squads of 14 per team. According to the research, it would be more economical to schedule the men’s and women’s competitions one after the other. The top two in each group might advance to the semifinals in a format with two groups. The bronze medal could be decided by a third-place playoff.

England has said they favour Olympic inclusion even though the Olympics take place during the English summer (the LA Games are set for July 14–30). Due to the men’s and women’s events likely lasting a week each, the interruption to the English domestic summer would be limited.

England would participate as a Great Britain team, which means that players from Scotland, like Mark Watt, and conceivably even Northern Ireland cricketers, might be added to the England team. Cricket Scotland, Cricket Ireland, the England & Wales Cricket Board, and other organisations have all stated their support for an Olympic bid.

Instead of underage teams or a version of the format used in football at the Olympics, the teams would be genuinely full-strength national representative teams, with three overage players per team allowed.

The top six positions in the men’s rankings are presently held by Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, Pakistan, South Africa, and India. In the women’s rankings, Australia, England, New Zealand, India, South Africa, and the West Indies take up the top six positions.

India is ranked well in both sets of T20 rankings, which increases the likelihood that they will earn a spot in both competitions. Due to the Olympics’ waning appeal in South Asia and the fact that adding sports to the LA 28 schedule depends heavily on their worldwide appeal, this is thought to be crucial for cricket’s prospects of being added.

The Caribbean islands would compete as distinct countries rather than as the West Indies. West Indies obtained one spot at the Commonwealth Games through the qualification process.

Then, a competition amongst the countries was held to choose the representative, which Barbados won. The similar system may be utilised for the Olympic Games if West Indies occupied one of the top six positions in the rankings, however such specifics are still to be worked out.

The Olympics have always insisted that competitions feature the best athletes in each discipline participating in a format that is acknowledged around the world. In actuality, this has meant that T20 is the only format that gives cricket a genuine possibility of being included in the Olympics, even if others have suggested T10, the Hundred, or even six-a-side.

However, there are still a lot of barriers standing in the way of cricket in Los Angeles. Only two new sports will be allowed at the games, according to Los Angeles. Additionally, if the modern pentathlon and boxing attract more athletes, the number of additional sports may be reduced to one or even none.

All nine candidate sports have been meeting with the local organising committee. At the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this year, a group witnessed the women’s cricket competition. Many cricket fans hoped that cricket’s appearance at the Commonwealth Games, which it did for the second time ever and for the first time since 1998, would serve as a sign of the sport’s suitability for multi-sport events and help it make a comeback to the Olympic Games.

The following Men’s T20 World Cup already has the United States as a co-host. The ICC anticipates that the occasion will spur the development of the sport in the USA.

Three locations in Los Angeles have been suggested as potential venues for cricket matches during the 2028 Olympic Games, including the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, home of the Major League Baseball Oakland Athletics.

In 2016, rugby sevens returned to the Games. The funding is available to sports federations if their sport is a part of the Games, regardless of whether the federation in question qualifies for the event. It is currently estimated that it receives at least £25 million through national Olympic committees per four-year cycle worldwide. In reality, emerging nations—who would be extremely unlikely to qualify for the Games—are the nations most likely to gain from Olympic inclusion.

Cricket’s inclusion in those Games is reportedly supported by the Brisbane organising committee, which has already been selected to host the 2032 Olympic Games.

Only the 1900 Paris Olympics featured cricket, and that year a Great Britain team made up of members of the Devon & Somerset Wanderers Cricket Club won the gold medal game against a French team made up of members of the French Athletic Club Union. Since then, Great Britain has held the title of defending Olympic cricket champions.
