    Secretary Health reviews Ayushman Bharat PMJAY SEHAT scheme in J&K

    Srinagar, Feb 11: Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME), Bhupinder Kumar, today chaired a meeting to review implementation of Ayushman Bharat PMJAY/ SEHAT scheme in J&K.

    Chief Executive Officer (CEO), State Health Agency (SHA), Sanjiv Gadkar gave a detailed presentation about implementation of the scheme in J&K. He informed that more than 98 per cent of families of J&K have at least one Ayushman Card and more than 83 per cent beneficiaries have received Ayushman cards.

    He further informed that more than three lakh treatments have been performed under the scheme during the current policy period and claims amount worth over Rs. 430 crore stand released in favour of the hospitals. He further gave a detailed overview of the work done by Public and Private empanelled hospitals.

    CEO further informed that action against the 25 erring hospitals has been initiated and the State Anti Fraud Unit is closely monitoring the activities of all such hospitals.

    Secretary H&ME said that Ayushman Bharat PMJAY/ SEHAT scheme is one of the most ambitious schemes of J&K and its effective implementation has improved the access of people to better healthcare considerably. He stressed upon the different stakeholders to strengthen monitoring and evaluation and make sure that actions are directed towards the resolve of zero tolerance to fraud under the scheme. Ho added that the government will not hesitate in de-empanelment and blacklisting of hospitals if they indulge in fraud activities.

    Bhupinder directed both Directors Health Services Kashmir and Jammu to keep vigil on different laboratories working under their jurisdiction and see if they comply with the guidelines under the scheme. He stressed upon the participants to improve reporting/analysis under the scheme especially scale up activities under the beneficiary feedback system, beneficiary audit, table top audit exercises and State Anti fraud Unit.

    The meeting was attended by Directors of Health Services, Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy Secretary H&ME Tak, State Nodal Officer, SHA, Sanam Mansoor and other senior functionaries of Health and Medical Education Department.(GNS)

    The Cath lab was procured at a cost of 8.5 crores  and has led to a significant enhancement of the capacity of SKIMS in handling interventional cardiology procedures at SKIMS.

    Established in 1982, the cardiology department is the flagship department in SKIMS and is one of the highest volume centres in the country for coronary interventions.

    The centre does interventional procedures from the ages of 1 day to 90 years and is the only centre in the UT doing Pediatric cardiac interventions as also removal of  infected pacemakers. The centre is the second leading centre for pacemaker placement in the country.

    Dr Mehta dedicated the Cath Lab to the people of UT and emphasised that healthcare in J&K should should evolve to such a level that no patient should ever be required to go out of the UT for medical treatment.

    SRINAGAR: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Saturday warned people to remove the illegal structures built over the Dhood Ganga Nallah.

    In a notice, Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan said that Dhood Ganga Nallah from Alochi Bagh to Chatabal is an important channel for the management of storm water and for preventing of urban flooding in the Srinagar City.

    The rejuvenation and restoration of Dhood Ganga Nallah from Alochi Bagh to Chatabal has been taken up under Srinagar Smart City Limited with Drainage Circle (Civil), SMC as the executing Agency, it reads.

    “Whereas, it has been found that a number of encroachments and illegal structures have come up on the site of Nallah; Whereas, removal of these encroachments and illegal structures and restoration of Nallah is important for flood and storm water management in the City,” reads the notice.

    “Now, therefore, through this Public Notice, all such individuals/encroachers are given 07 days’ time from the issuance of this notice to remove all encroachments/illegal structures erected on and along the Nallah, failing which Srinagar Municipal Corporation shall initiate action including removal of these encroachments at the risk and cost of the offenders/encroachers,” reads the notice issued by Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan.

    Baramulla, Feb 11: Irrigation and Flood Control division in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has asked residents to remove illegal encroachments over Jhelum river banks and other water bodies within the period of seven days, failing which strict action would be taken against the encroachers.

    According to a notice, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) people who have encroached over the Irrigation and Flood control (I&FC) land in the district have been asked to remove encroachments within seven days.

    “If any person fails to remove the encroachment, the department would swung into action and people have to pay the charges of the same”, it reads.

    It reads strict action under the law would be taken against the people who fail to remove illegal encroachments.

    As per officials separate eviction notices have been issued to residents across the district for the same—(KNO)

  • Man Dies In Road Accident

    SRINAGAR: A 35-year old man died in an road accident in Hajin town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday late evening.

    Quoting an official the news agency KNO reported that the man identified as Nisar Ahmed Dar son of Gh Ahmed Dar (35) of Shahgund suffered critical injuries after a car he was traveling in met with an accident at Bonikhan area.

    He said soon after the accident, Dar was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

    “After conducting medico-legal formalities the body will be handed over to his family members,” he said.

    SRINAGAR: Amid Prevailing Inclement Weather Conditions, Jammu And Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) Saturday issued avalanche warning for twelve districts in upcoming 24 hours.

    The DMA, as per GNS, issued a ‘Medium Level’ warning above 2000 to 2500 metres over Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Kulgam, Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch Rajouri and Reasi districts.

    The authority also expressed apprehension of ‘Low Level’ avalanche occurrence above 2200 metres over Anantnag, Kulgam and Ramban district.

    People living in the specified areas have been advised to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas.

    SRINAGAR: The flight operations at Srinagar international Airport resumed on Saturday after remaining temporarily suspended due to the snowfall and low visibility, officials said.

    Quoting Director Srinagar Airport, Kuldeep Singh news agency KNO reported that the flight operations have resumed at Srinagar airport.

    “The flight operations have resumed at Srinagar airport and no flight has been cancelled,” the official said.

    Earlier in the morning, the flight operations were suspended temporarily at Srinagar airport due to the snowfall and poor visibility.

  • Srinagar-Jammu Highway Reopens After Three Days

    SRINAGAR: Vehicular movement on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was partially restored partially on Saturday after remaining closed for three days, officials said here

    Quoting an official the news agency KNO reported that the highway was blocked since Thursday evening due to landslides and shooting stones triggered by rains near Mehar, Panthyal, Magarkot and Cafeteria Morh.

    He said after completion of clearance operation, movement of vehicles has been partially restored on the highway.

    The official said that due to the blockade of the highway, around 1000 of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) were stranded at various locations since three days.

    “The movement of vehicles would remain normal if weather remains fair,” he added.
