Bengaluru: The Congress on Monday launched a ‘CryPM’ campaign ahead of the Karnataka Assembly polls and put out a QR code showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi wiping his tears.
Along with the ‘CryPM’ QR code, the party also put out a ‘PayCM’ QR code poster too, with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s image in the middle.
The unique campaign was launched a day after Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took potshots at Modi saying that he was the only Prime Minister she had seen who cried over insults aimed at him, instead of listening to the sufferings of the people.
“He (Modi) is the first prime minister I have seen who comes before you and cries that he is being abused. Instead of listening to your grief, he is coming here and telling you his (problems),” Vadra said.
The Indian Youth Congress in Karnataka tweeted the two posters of ‘CryPM’ and ‘PayCM’ side by side with a message, “The PM’s speeches these days remind me of my Facebook feed full of complaints and no substantial content. Time for a status update? #CryPMPayCM”
The Congress is also targeting the Chief Minister accusing his government of collecting 40 per cent commission on public works.
The state will go to the polls for the 224 seats in the general Assembly on May 10.

Gurugram: Two pet dogs were rescued after a video showing a woman slamming a dog in an elevator of a society here surfaced online, police said on Thursday.
The canines were rescued following a complaint filed by the volunteers of People for Animals (PFA) an animal welfare organisation.
According to the police, a father-son duo in Sector 109 had kept two dogs of foreign breeds which were looked after by their domestic help. On Wednesday, she had taken the animals to the society’s park and while returning to the flat, the help slammed one of the dogs thrice on the elevator’s floor. The entire act was caught on a CCTV camera.
The dog has suffered a lot of injuries, they said, adding that the woman has claimed that it had tried to bite her.
Manjunath Kamath, a member of PFA said it was a case of cruelty against animalS and they will file a written complaint with the police.
The resident welfare association (RWA) of the society has refused to divulge any information about the incident.
“We have not received any complaint yet. If we get any complaint, action will be taken as per the law,” said Inspector Aman Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Bajghera Police Station.

New Delhi: Delhi Police has traced the cab which featured in a video that turned up on social media showing a man beating a woman and forcing her to get inside a car, a senior officer said on Sunday.
The incident took place Saturday around 9.45 pm near Mangolpuri flyover in outer Delhi, he said.
The video that turned up on social media and was shared widely showed a man beating a woman and forcing her to get inside the car.
The car which has Haryana registration number is from Gurgaon’s Ratan Vihar area where a team of police personnel were also sent in connection with the incident, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Harendra Kumar Singh said the car and its driver have been traced.
The car was booked through Uber from Rohini to Vikaspuri by two men and a woman. The three had an altercation en route, police said.
“The video shows the boy forcibly pushing the girl inside the car. It is after the girl wanted to move out after an altercation. Further investigation is in progress,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal took cognisance of the video and assured strict action.
“I am issuing a notice to Delhi Police. The commission will ensure strict action against these people,” Maliwal said in a tweet in Hindi.
Kochi: Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC), the apex body of the Catholic Church in the state, has urged the state government to ban the staging of a Malayalam drama alleging that it portrayed Christianity along with its congregations and convents in a bad light.
A recent meeting of bishops and heads of various congregations, chaired by KCBC president Cardinal Baselios Cleemis here, condemned the play ‘Kakkukali’ and opined that its staging was a blot on the culture of Kerala.
A play based on the story of Malayalam writer Francis Noronha, ‘Kakkukali’ revolves around a young nun and her struggles and challenges which she comes across in a convent.
Alappuzha-based Neythal Nataka Sangham gave the story a stage adaptation under the direction of Job Madathil.
In the meeting, the KCBC representatives said drama and literary works have the history of paving the way for reforms, transformations and social upliftment.
But glorifying works with highly derogatory content and distortion of history is unacceptable, the apex body said in a statement.
It was “highly condemnable” that ‘Kakkukali’, which hurt the self-confidence and self-esteem of thousands of nuns and congregations who offer unique services to the society, has been included in the international drama festival of the state government and given huge publicity by the Left outfits, the statement further said.
The Catholic body also urged the cultural society to denounce the play and demanded the government to take immediate steps to ban its staging.
However, Job Madathil, the play’s director, has rejected the criticisms and said the troupe would go ahead with its staging. “The drama was already staged in 15 venues and I did not understand why a protest suddenly broke out now,” he said.

New Delhi: BJP’s Andhra Pradesh co-incharge Sunil Deodhar has criticised a Twitter post in which Andhra CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is seen feeding milk to a child dressed as Lord Shiva, calling it “highly insulting”.
The YSR Congress Party’s post on Saturday was shared on Twitter by Deodhar that read ‘#YSRCP_Insults_Mahadeva’.
“A CM who aggressively converts Hindus to Christianity is now openly insulting Hindus by posting such a cartoon,” a Twitter user posted on Sunday while sharing the YSR Congress’ illustration that was displayed on the occasion of Mahashivratri. That post was re-tweeted by Deodhar.
“A party run by liquor mafia and the Chief Minister who is out on bail does not have the moral right to preach Hindus whom they should feed on festivals,” the post on Twitter by the BJP National Secretary read.
Deodhar also shared a video of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minsiter doing ‘Abhishekam’ of Lord Shiva, saying: “What’s this video, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy? Political drama to woo Hindus for capturing power?”
Stating that animal worship is also a form of God worship, he asked Jagan Mohan Reddy as to why such tweets and ‘preachings’ are not made by him on Bakrid and Christmas.

What is your earliest memory? We were having dinner and my cousin said we were eating my pet chicken, Susie. What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? I would deplore feeling deplorable about myself.
What is the trait you most deplore in others? The inability to negotiate peace and truly forgive.
Describe yourself in three words Doing my best.
What do you most dislike about your appearance? It’s fascinating watching the sack of flesh I live in showing signs of wear. But I am grateful, each morning, to wake up in it.
What is your most unappealing habit? Procrastinating.
What scares you about getting older? Nothing. Better than the alternative.
Which book are you ashamed not to have read? Dante’s Inferno (in Italian).
What is the worst thing anyone’s said to you? “You can’t.”
What does love feel like? Like falling – endlessly – and then discovering you have wings.
Have you ever said “I love you” without meaning it? Of course I have. But it wasn’t because I didn’t want to actually make that person feel loved and appreciated.
Which living person do you most despise, and why? Trump/Putin. Same person. Egotistical, bombastic, selfish shites.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Stay positive.
What has been your biggest disappointment? My biggest disappointment would be living with disappointment. What a burden to be shackled to. I would be truly disappointed if I didn’t (as the song says) pick myself up, dust myself off, and start all over again.
How often do you have sex? Who’s counting?
What single thing would improve the quality of your life? Stretching.
Would you rather have more sex, money or fame? Well, I guess I won the lottery. Lucky me.
How would you like to be remembered? As a kind person who cared for others.
What is the most important lesson life has taught you? That we are all no more and no less than a single thread in a gigantic web of life. What we do and how we behave has repercussions for the entire web.
