Rajasthan HC orders stay on arrest of Ramdev accused of hurting religious sentiments

    [ad_1]

The Rajasthan High Court has stayed the arrest of Ramdev over an FIR registered against him for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and directed the yoga guru to appear before the investigating officer for questioning by May 20.

Justice Manoj Kumar Garg gave the direction while hearing a petition by Ramdev seeking quashing of the FIR.

The FIR was filed at the Chohtan police station in Barmer on February 5 on the complaint of Pathai Khan against the yoga guru’s alleged derogatory remarks against Islam and Christianity at a religious event in Barmer on February 2.

In provocative remarks at a meeting of seers, Yoga guru Ramdev had accused Muslims of resorting to terror and abducting Hindu women while comparing Hinduism to Islam and Christianity. He alleged that the two faiths were obsessed with conversion while Hinduism taught its followers to do good.

In his complaint, Khan claimed that Ramdev had made his remarks “deliberately… so that there is animosity against Islam”.

At the gathering of seers in Barmer, Ramdev had allegedly said, “Muslims offer namaz five times a day and then do whatever they want. They kidnap Hindu girls and commit all kinds of sins. Our Muslim brothers commit a lot of sins but they definitely offer namaz as they are taught to do so. Hindu religion is not like this.” A video of his speech had surfaced on social media.

“I am not criticising anyone but people are obsessed only with this. Some people talk about converting the entire world to Islam and others want to convert the world to Christianity,” Ramdev said. He allegedly claimed that these faiths had no other agenda.

Consuming Bhaang, creating nuisance not the culture of Holi: Baba Ramdev

    [ad_1]

Haridwar: On the occasion of Holi, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev appealed to people not to consume ‘bhaang’, and to celebrate the festival with togetherness and brotherhood.

Baba Ramdev celebrated the festival at the Namami Gange Ghat by playing the Holi with flowers.

Talking to the media, he said, “Those who create a ruckus by getting intoxicated, I would like to appeal to them to celebrate the festival of Holi with peace and harmony and wish each other with colours full of love.”

The Yoga Guru said that consuming ‘bhaang’ on Holi and then creating mischief by applying chemical colours is not the tradition of Holi.

“Flowers are blooming all around in nature. Similarly, the colours of nature came in our lives too. Holi is not a festival of any kind of pollution and intoxication. People of all religions should celebrate the Holi festival together and maintain brotherhood among themselves,” Ramdev Baba said.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished the citizens of the country on occasion.
Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, “Best wishes for Holi. May the colours of joy and enthusiasm always shower in your life. Wishing you all a happy and colourful Holi!.”

The festival of Holi which celebrates the spirit of inclusiveness and humanity heralds the onset of spring after winter in the Indian subcontinent.

The festival marks the victory of good over evil and is celebrated on two days – Holika Dahan and Holi Milan.
On Tuesday, Delhi Police deployed drone cameras to monitor Old Delhi’s Jama Masjid and tightened security on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat and Holika Dahan.

Elaborate security arrangements were made near Jama Masjid in the national capital as both festivals were celebrated together. Shab-e-Barat and Holika Dahan are celebrated with great fanfare across India.

‘Akbar, Babur or Aurangzeb are not our heroes’, says Ramdev

    [ad_1]

Panaji: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Sunday said that Akbar, Babur or Aurangzeb are not the heroes, but Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is the superhero.

He was speaking at a programme organised by the Goa government to celebrate the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Ponda, South district of Goa.

“Mostly in state boards or NCERT books, we have been taught wrong history. (In these books) Mughals are glorified. This has to be changed. Akbar, Babur or Aurangzeb are not our heroes. Our superheroes are Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rana Pratap, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh and those who sacrificed their lives for the nation,” Baba Ramdev said.

He said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had a victorious life. “We should know this history,” he said.

Ramdev said that Shivaji Maharaj never discriminated against any religion or class, but took everyone together.

Speaking about the crisis in Pakistan, he said that it will be divided into four parts.

“Pakistan is going through a financial crisis. Pakistan will be soon divided into four parts. It will remain a small nation,” he said.

  • Cancer cases went up after COVID-19 pandemic, says Ramdev

Cancer cases went up after COVID-19 pandemic, says Ramdev

    [ad_1]

Panaji: Yoga guru Ramdev on Saturday claimed that cancer cases increased in the country after the COVID-19 pandemic, but medical experts said there was no correlation between the two and the rise in cases was a normal phenomenon.

Cancer cases have been rising by five percent every two years and it has nothing to do with the pandemic, a renowned oncologist said here.

Ramdev made the remark while speaking before a gathering early morning at Miramar beach in Goa where his Patanjali Yog Samiti hads organised a yoga camp.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was also present with him on the stage.

“Cancer has increased a lot. The cases of this disease have gone up after the COVID-19 pandemic. People have lost their eyesight, their sense of hearing .,” he said.

But renowned oncologist and former chief of the Indian Medical Association’s Goa unit Dr Shekhar Salkar said the number of cancer cases is on the rise with the increase in population across the world.

Every two years there is a five percent increase in cases, he said.

“Cancer cases are not going to come down. But at the same time, you cannot attribute it to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr Salkar who also heads the medical cell of the Goa BJP.

Without naming Ramdev, he said, “Celebrities should make statements responsibly as people have faith in their words.”

India has 104 cancer patients per lakh of population, an increase from 85 patients per lakh in 2018, Dr Salkar noted.

“But at the same time, we are much better than the USA which has the rate crossing 500 patients per lakh,” he added.

India might surpass the US’s cancer rate if we do not correct our lifestyle, he said.

Dr Shredharan N, a surgical oncologist, also said that a five percent rise in the number of cancer patients is a normal phenomenon.

“There is no data to say that cancer has increased after COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

People insulting ‘great men’ of sanatan tradition are ‘anti-India’: Ramdev

    [ad_1]

Haridwar: Yoga guru Ramdev on Thursday said many people are making controversial remarks against “great men” of sanatan tradition and termed them as “anti-India”.

“Insulting remarks are being passed by many people against great men associated with the sanatan tradition… They are all anti-India and acting at the behest of international forces by showing disrespect to the country. They should be strongly opposed,” Ramdev told reporters in reply to a question about self-styled godman and Bageshwar Dham chief Dhirendra Krishna Shastri.

However, the yoga guru admitted people were being misled in the country in the name of miracles.

“People are being misled in the name of miracles. India respects physical reality. There is no place in its culture and religion for hypocrisy. But one cannot deny that if there is a physical science there is a spiritual science too,” he said after hoisting the national flag at Pantanjali Yogpeeth here.

Targeting Pakistan, he said it is on the verge of bankruptcy and will soon be divided into four parts with the POK, Sindh and Balochistan merging with India which will become a super power.
