Hyderabad: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday accused the Telangana government of failing to fulfil the aspirations of people with the requirement of water, funds and jobs not being provided to them so far even as the state witnessed suicides of 8,000 farmers since 2014 when the party came to power.

Attacking the BRS government in a public meeting here, she alleged that only those who are close to the ruling party are getting jobs, water and funds.

“(Around) 8,000 farmers committed suicide from 2014. Every day on an average approximately three farmers committed suicide,” she charged.

Referring to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s regime, she said the dispensation thinks that Telangana is their “jagir (estate) and they are the new Jagirdars (estate owning class)”.

At the event, the Congress released ‘Youth Declaration’, a commitment to the youth of Telangana, if the party comes to power in the state, in the presence of Vadra.

Religious ignorance and fanaticism are a threat to us. Religion does not encourage us to make mistakes. But religious stupidity takes all human beings into madness and a trans,” he said.

“Religious madness promotes humans to commit inhuman acts. There is no place for violence in any religion. Religion is the cause of violence all over the world. It is not mentioned in our Hindu religion. Lord Krishna did not say about violence. Some people added religious fanaticism and created a lot of trouble,” he added.

He also thanked Hare Krishna Heritage for supporting the government by providing food to millions of children in the city.

Will procure every grain of damaged paddy: KCR to Telangana farmers

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao assured the peasant families that the state government will procure every grain of the damaged paddy due to untimely rains.

KCR appealed to the farmers not to worry about the Paddy which got wet due to rains. He made it clear that the state government will pay an equal price to the damaged paddy as paid for normal paddy during the procurement.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the Telangana government’s aim is to protect agriculture and ‘rescue the farmers’ from their hardships’.

    MS Education Academy

In the wake of incessant untimely rains in recent times, he directed the agriculture department to study what policies should be adopted so that Yasangi paddy harvesting can be completed before March and take appropriate measures to sensitize the farmers in this direction. KCR also suggested the farmers postpone the harvesting for another three to four days.

The Chief Minister held a high-level review meeting on the procurement of Yasangi paddy and wet paddy, measures to ensure early harvesting of Yasangi paddy in future, activities of the agriculture department etc at DR BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Tuesday.

Ministers T Harish Rao, V Srinivas Goud, G Jagadishwar Reddy, MLC and state president of Rythubandhu Samiti Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, MLAs -Balka Suman, Bajireddy Govardhan, principal advisor to Government Rajeev Sharma, chief secretary Santhi Kumari, principal secretary to the chief minister Narsing Rao, finance special chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Secretaries to chief minister -Smita Sabharwal, Rajasekhar Reddy, Bhupal Reddy, Agriculture Secretary Raghunandan Rao, Civil Supplies Commissioner V. Anil Kumar and others participated.

KCR said that “the Telangana government’s activities for the development of agriculture and the welfare of farmers’ families are providing unprecedented benefits and the state stood as a role model for the country. Telangana surpassed many states in Paddy production. The government is producing every grain of Paddy from the farmers in their fields. Telangana government is the only one in the country which is implementing an action plan for the welfare of farmers with sincerity and determination.”

He called the untimely hailstorms and rains that the state received as ‘unfortunate’.

“There is no control over natural calamities. However, the state government did not keep silent. It is already supporting the farmers who have lost crops due to hail storms by providing Rs 10,000 per acre despite the heavy burden on the state exchequer. The state government considered the farmers’ plights in the wake of damage to Yasangi paddy due to rains. The state government is once again ready to come to the rescue of the affected farmers in the crisis time. It is decided to procure wet paddy. We will complete the paddy procurement as soon as possible and make it clear that the farmers need not worry.”

The officials explained to the chief minister about the details of the procurement of Yasangi paddy which is already going on across the state. Officials told KCR that some difficulties were faced in the procurement due to untimely rains. The commissioner of the civil supplies department Anil Kumar explained to the chief minister that procurement will be completed soon with all the arrangements.

As the state is likely to witness rains for another three to four days, KCR advised the farmers to stop harvesting the paddy so that the grain does not get wet.

KCR advised both the agriculture department and farmers to take this untimely rain as a lesson and create awareness in advance to avoid future losses. He requested the farmers to take up the paddy plantation in advance and ensure the Yasangi paddy harvesting is completed by March end of every year. The Chief Minister said that it is good to complete the harvesting before March as there are chances of untimely rains.

The Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has been asked to carry out surprise inspections.

“Telangana agriculture is witnessing fast growth. The Department of agriculture should be constantly alert and carelessness will not be tolerated,” he said.

Telangana: Sharmila sends truck full of damaged crops to KCR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader YS Sharmila on Tuesday sent a truck loaded with damaged crops to chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and said that she intends to “wake the CM up from his deep slumber”.

She said that the truck bears farmers’ tears and demanded a compensation of Rs 30,000 per acre of damages rendered to the farmers due to the recent rains.

Exhibiting the truck to the media, the YSRTP chief said, “Today, we are sending this load of the damaged crop to KCR so that, at least during the election year, he will wake up from deep sleep and extend appropriate compensation to farmers. It is estimated that the crop loss is around 10 lakh acres, but not even a single official or MLA has visited the farmers and inspected the loss.”

    MS Education Academy

She alleged that all the MLAs are busy clicking photographs in the newly built secretariat which cost Rs 1600 crores, while farmers had to raise loans at high interest and also sell their jewellery for crops.

“In the last nine years, the cumulative crop loss has been estimated to be more than Rs 14,000 crores, but this reckless government has no concept of crop insurance,” she added.

Sharmila said that when there is no crop insurance, the government should extend the compensation. She added that KCR’s promise of Rs 10,000 per acre is insignificant.

“He said that the amount would be delivered by the time he returned home. Has he not returned home yet?” she said.

The YSRTP leader also demanded that paddy procurement should begin functioning immediately.

“The assurance to set up 7500 IKP centres also failed and less than 2500 were set up. We demand that the centres be established as an emergency,” said Sharmila.

“Is this the bharosa and is this kisan sarkar? A sarkar that doesn’t give crop insurance, doesn’t extend input subsidies, and fails on every front when it comes to the rescue of farmers?” said the YSRTP leader slamming the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) catchphrases ‘raithu bharosa’ and ‘ab ki baar kisan sarkar’.

Govt should work to realise Ambedkar’s ideals: KCR at TS Secretariat launch

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The new Secretariat of Telangana has been named after B R Ambedkar with the intention that people’s representatives and the entire government machinery should work to realise the ideals of the Architect of the Indian Constitution, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said on Sunday.

Rao inaugurated the new Secretariat complex, which stands 265 feet tall and is spread over an area of 10, 51,676 square feet in a sprawling of 28 acres of land here.

Speaking after the inauguration, the Chief Minister said he considered it the opportunity of a lifetime to have inaugurated this “magnificent secretariat complex”.

    MS Education Academy

“In order to take forward his (BR Ambedkar) ideals, to make all the employees and ministers who regularly come to the Secretariat to remember his name and keep his message in mind while working, we named our Secretariat, the epicenter of the State administration after BR Ambedkar,” Rao said.

He further said that the Telangana agitation for a separate state had been peaceful following Gandhian ideology, and statehood was achieved due to Ambedkar’s vision of enshrining Article 3 in the Constitution.

Slamming his detractors, KCR said rebuilding of Telangana does not mean that old structures will be demolished and new edifices will be erected.

“I want to tell some (political) dwarfs who do not know about the reconstruction of Telangana. Reconstruction of Telangana means reviving all the lakes in the State that remained dry due to lack of attention in the undivided Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

He alleged that some forces, which could not digest the urge for reconstruction of Telangana, failed to see the overall development that the State is achieving.

Recalling the Telangana development, KCR said the State attracted investments worth lakhs of crores of rupees and was making rapid strides in the IT sector, even surpassing Bangalore as its hub.

The Chief Minister said the total paddy cultivation in the State stood at 56 lakh acres against 94 lakh acres all over the country during the current Yasangi (Rabi season).

He said that the earlier Planning Commission (since replaced by NITI Aayog) had kept nine districts of Telangana under the backward districts category, but now there were no villages as progressive as those of Telangana.

According to the Chief Minister, the per capita income of Telangana is the highest among all States in India even as per capita power consumption is also high which are the growth indicators and good economic development.

The Chief Minister thanked officials and stakeholders for striving hard for the development of the State.

A ‘Sudarsana Yagam’ was performed from 6 AM and Rao occupied his chambers in the sixth floor after the rituals concluded at around 1.30 PM. The Ministers of the State government also occupied their respective chambers.

Considering the inadequacies of the former Secretariat complex built during undivided Andhra Pradesh, a government-appointed expert committee favoured construction of a new building.

The Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Secretariat on June 27, 2019 but the works started only in January 2021, delayed by the covid-19 pandemic, court cases and other issues.

The building stands 265 feet tall, and a press release issued by the government said no state had such a tall Secretariat. It is also one of the largest Secretariats in the country, the release added.

The domes of the new Secretariat have been built in the styles of the Neelakanteswara Swamy temple of the Kakatiya period in Nizamabad, designs of the palaces of the royals of Wanaparthy ‘Samsthanam’ in Telangana and the pattern of the Hanuman temple in Sarangpur, Gujarat, according to the release.

The construction was done “flawlessly” with the instructions of Roads and Buildings (R&B) department, IGBC (Indian Green Building Council), Telangana State Technological Services and the State police department, the release added.
