  • Properties Of 168 Militants To Be Attached, Say Police

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir police have started the process to attach properties of nearly 168 militants who belong to different districts of the UT but have been operating from other side of the LOC.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had recently directed the J&K Police to initiate action against such militants, including 118 from Doda, 36 from Kishtwar and 14 from Rajouri and Poonch districts. The action was sought after attacks on the Kashmiri Pandits in different parts of J&K. Most of the attacks in Jammu division were handled by the militants who belong to J&K but based in different cities of Pakistan.

Doda SSP Abdul Qayoom said that out of 118 militants from the district are based outside J&K, 10 are the most active and have been trying to recruit local youth into militancy. “Two among them have been declared individual militants and two proclaimed offenders,” the SSP said.

In December, the property of an absconding Lashkar-e-Toiba militant, Abdul Rashid, alias Jehangir, was seized in Thathri area of Doda. He is said to have been behind many IED blasts in Jammu region. The SSP said a list of properties of other militants had been sought from the Revenue Department, which too would be seized.

The police are likely to soon seize properties of many militants from Doda, including Mohammad Irshad, alias Idrees, who has been designated a ‘terrorist’ by the MHA.

  • Restore Statehood Without Any Delay: Karan Singh

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Senior Congress leader and former Sadar-e-Riyasat of erstwhile J&K State, Dr. Karan Singh has said that there is a lack of communication between public and bureaucrats in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir.

He stated that assembly elections should be held in J&K in a free and fair manner and Statehood should be restored to the UT without any delay.

When asked to comment on the bifurcation of J&K State into two Union Territories, he said, “We should look ahead rather than looking back and added that same remained his principle in life.”

Replying to a question of taking back the regions of J&K occupied by Pakistan, he said that it was not easy as the same could not be materialized without a war which only brings deaths and destruction.

Singh said that forceful religious conversions are not good things be these happen in India or in Pakistan. He was speaking in a session on Vedanta organized by FICCI FLO J&K wherein he educated a gathering on Gyan Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karam Yoga, Raj Yoga and also touched Hath Yoga.

  • Mehbooba Mufti Is Right And Wrong At The Same Time, Says Soz

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader Saifuddin Soz has spoken out on the recent appeal made by PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, to Kashmiri Muslims to protect Kashmiri Pandits from getting killed. Soz expressed puzzlement when he read about the appeal in the newspapers, but also agreed with Mufti that killing in Kashmir can never be an acceptable situation.

“Ms. Mehbooba Mufti is right as killing in Kashmir, under no circumstances, can be an acceptable situation for the general run of the people of Kashmir, who have experienced death and destruction in Kashmir, over a long period of 30 years! I am one amongst the Kashmiris who reject the culture of violence, altogether.” Soz said.

Soz emphasized that he is one amongst the Kashmiris who rejects the culture of violence altogether. However, he also stated that appealing to the people of Kashmir is not enough to yield any advantage, and instead proposed organizing a strong public reaction against the killings through non-violent and peaceful methods.

“But, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti is wrong in the sense that appealing to people of Kashmir is not going to yield any advantage. I am prepared to join Mehbooba ji to organize a strong public reaction against these killings through non-violent and peaceful methods.” he added.

“What can the people of Kashmir do beyond feeling sad and helpless on the deaths of civilians at the hands of killers, who always try to remain hidden from the public eye?” he concluded.
