    SRINAGAR: The Health and Medical Education (H&ME) department on Tuesday ordered an inquiry into the alleged violation of government rules and regulations by the Director of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK).

    The director has allegedly delegated financial powers to Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) in contradiction to the established protocols.

    As per an order, issued by Secretary Health, Director Medical Supplies corporation limited Pankaj Gupta has been appointed as inquiry officer and has been directed to submit a report within 20 days.

    As per the order, the inquiry officer has been asked to find reasons for delegating financial powers to Chief Medical Officers by the Director Health Services Kashmir in violation of rules and regulations and in spite of the fact that a Central Purchase Committee, duly constituted by the government, existed at the Directorate level.

    He further has been directed to find reasons for further delegation of financial powers by Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag to Block Medical Officer, Saller against extant rules, establish whether Block Medical Officer, Saller exercised authority in violation of instructions issued by Director Health Services Kashmir, and even procured items available with JKMSCL against the mandate of purchase committee or not. In case of later, compelling reasons thereof.

    Further, inquire how BMO Saller ascertained rates’ reasonability and establish whether the rates were reasonable or not and establish whether procured items bear the requisite technical specifications or not, the order reads.

    “The Inquiry Officer shall fix responsibility for failure in observing financial propriety at various levels. The inquiry shall also extend to procurements made for the Baltal axis of Sh. Amarnath ji Yatra during 2022. The Inquiry Officer shall submit the report within a period of 20 days from the issuance of this order,” reads the order—(KNO)

    SRINAGAR: Amid fresh spike in the Covid-19 cases in Kashmir, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir( DHSK) on Monday  directed all Chief Medical Officers of the Valley to increase rate of Covid-19 testing and establish Flu clinics at all health institutions.

    “In continuation to the letter no DHSK/IDSP/826-39 dated 29-03-2023 regarding Covid19 testing, it has been observed that there is no increase in the Covid19 testing rate. Furthermore, there hasn’t been any increase in the proportion testing of RT-PC which should be the benchmark of minimum 80% of total Covid19 testing,” DHSK said in an order.

    “In view of above, you are directed to increase the rate of Covid19 testing, proportion of RT-PCR testing & ensure the establishment of Flu Clinics at all the Health Institutions as per the guidelines issued by MoHFW,” it said.

    Srinagar, April 03: Amid fresh spike in Covid-19 cases in Kashmir, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has directed all Chief Medical Officers of the Valley to increase rate of Covid-19 testing and establish Flu clinics at all health institutions.

    According to an order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), DHSK stated that there is no increase in the Covid-19 testing rate.

    “Furthermore, there hasn’t been any increase in the proportion testing of RT- PCR which should be the benchmark of minimum 80% of total Covid19 testing,” it reads.

    DHSK urges citizens to take preventive measures against chronic diseases

    Srinagar, Mar 13 (GNS): In sync with the ongoing Glaucoma Week, a screening camp for non-communicable diseases was on Monday held at Government Gousia Hospital Khanyar, during which 29 patients were diagnosed with diabetes.

    To overlook the ongoing celebrations, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather visited Government Gousia Hospital Khanyar Srinagar – where he assessed a screening camp conducted for non-communicable diseases.

    Talking to media on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, as per GNS said, that in a significant move towards the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), the Government of India’s HNCD program has initiated screening in all district hospitals for people of all age groups. “The screenings aim to identify individuals who may be at risk for chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.”

    Citing reports, Rather said that out of the 550 patients screened at Gousia Hospital, 29 were diagnosed with high blood sugar levels, indicating that they are at a good percentage of fighting the disease. “This is in line with the national average, which reports that 12-13% of the population is diabetic,” he said.

    “It is crucial for people to change their lifestyle as no other option is left now. They need to exercise, work on their fitness, and reduce the consumption of salt, sugar, and other harmful elements,” said the Director of Health, emphasizing the need for people to take preventive measures seriously.

    “The rise of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes is becoming a concern across India, prompting the government to initiate the NCB program. The aim is to educate people on how to remain healthy and enjoy a better quality of life.”

    Talking about the outbreak of seasonal influenza on the rise, the Director urged people to take all the necessary precautions and use masks to protect themselves from the virus.”

    He advised those experiencing influenza symptoms to drink hot water and consult a doctor immediately.

    “We have taken preventive measures, and if anybody among us feels symptomatic, they should consult a doctor. Otherwise, there is no need to worry, taking proper prevention can cure anyone,” he reassured.

    “This initiative by the HNCD program is a step in the right direction towards creating awareness and promoting preventive measures for NCDs. With such screenings becoming more common, early detection and management of these diseases could save lives and improve the health of the nation,” he added. (GNS)
