Hyderabad: Case booked after 2 youth allegedly attacked in Old City

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Charminar police booked a case against a group of Muslim youngsters for allegedly attacking two persons belonging to another community on Thursday night. The incident took place when the Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra was held by right-wing groups in a grand way, and passed-off relatively peacefully.

Sources said the two youngsters who were part of the Sri Ram Navami festival rallies stopped near a mosque closr to the Shehran Market and raised slogans when prayers were going on. An argument happened between the local Namazis and the two youngsters after which the duo were attacked and reportedly chased away.

The police late in the night booked a case under sections 341, 323 r/w 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and investigation is ongoing.

While the Ram Navami procession in Hyderabad passed-off peacefully otherwise for this incident, a portrait of Godse appeared at the suspended Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh’s rally, which joined during the procession at Mangalhat. People who joined Singh’s fringe rally waved photos of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin, now a beloved Hindutva figure.

The annual Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra here has become a show of strength for Hindutva groups to flex. The procession has also become a launchpad for Hindutva mascot and suspended BJP MLA Raja Singh to release new inflammatory ‘songs’ every year. In 2022, he sang a song degenerating Muslims and threatened to “kick” them out of India if they “don’t chant Ram’s name”. This year was no different.

Raja Singh as a practice has been singing songs and releasing them during the Sri Rama Navami festival each year. One of latest songs, ‘Baap Tu Baap Rahega’, was clearly a dig at the ruling government (or even the cops) for arresting him last year and putting him in the jail under the PD Act after he released a video passing derogatory comments against Prophet Muhammad. He did that in retaliation against the state got allowing comic Munawar Faurqui to hold a show.

The lyrics also make mention his PD Act detention following registration of a series of cases for making derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed in a video and also old cases booked against him for delivering hate speeches. The lyrics goes ‘Jail Ka Taala Tuth Gaya, Baap Tumhara Choot Gaya’. The song is of 5:10 minutes duration.

Delhi: 2 BJP leaders booked for demanding Rs 15 lakh from businessman

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: An extortion case has been filed against two BJP leaders in Delhi, Siyaram Shakya and Dheeraj Pradhan, for allegedly demanding Rs 15 lakh from a businessman to let him construct his house.

The FIR was lodged with the Dabri police station in Dwarka district on March 29. Pradhan is said to be the Mehrauli district vice-president of BJP, while Shakya is reportedly a local BJP leader.

The businessman, Chaman Prakash Saxena, a resident of East Kidwai Nagar, has alleged that he was asked to pay Rs 15 lakh by the accused to settle their score.

“I was lawfully constructing a property at Raja Puri in Uttam Nagar. But Siyaram Shakya fabricated a civil case against me. When I tried to resolve the issue, Shakya asked me to come the office of Dheeraj Pradhan, where they demanded Rs 15 lakh from me to settle the matter out of court. Pradhan is facing court trials and was held guilty is one of the cases,” Saxena alleged in the FIR, which has been accessed by IANS.

The complainant alleged that he was in fear that the accused may harm his family members.

Saxena also said that on March 6, a civil judge in Dwarka had vacated a stay order and directed him to repair the property of Shakya.

“I didn’t damage their property. I just wanted to resolve the matter. I had asked Shakya to show where his property was damaged so that I could get it repaired, but he threatened me,” Saxena alleged.

He also said that on March 11, when he resumed construction work of his own property, he was again threatened by Shakya to pay Rs 15 lakh or face dire consequences.

According to sources, no arrests have been made in the case so far.

  • Amritpal Singh’s Aid Booked Under Arms Act

    [ad_1]

Srinagar:  Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed a case under the Arms Act against a close aide of fugitive Amritpal Singh for illegally procuring a gun license.

According to NDTV, Varinder Singh managed to acquire a gun license from Kishtwar district in 2013 and renewed it every year in four different districts across Jammu and Kashmir. Varinder Singh, also known as Fauji, was arrested by Punjab police a few days ago and booked under the National Security Act (NSA) before being sent to Dibrugarh jail in Assam.

The two supporters of Amritpal Singh, Varinder Singh and Talwinder Singh, have been discovered to have obtained gun licenses from Jammu and Kashmir. An FIR has been filed in Kishtwar and investigations are ongoing. Despite the fact that both licenses were cancelled after Punjab Police wrote to the district magistrates of Kishtwar and Ramban, the major gun license scam in Jammu and Kashmir has once again been brought to the forefront, NDTV reported.

As per NDTV’s report, between 2012 and 2018, district magistrates issued over 2.78 lakh illegal gun licenses, making it the biggest arms license scam in India. The case was transferred to the CBI by then Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra. The CBI discovered that illegal gun licenses had been issued by district magistrates in collusion with arms dealers.

Varinder Singh had acquired a gun license through forged documents when he and his army unit, the 19 Sikh Regiment, were deployed in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite being terminated from the army in 2015, his gun license was still being renewed in Jammu and Kashmir. The renewal of his gun license by district magistrates in Kathua, Reasi, Baramulla, Poonch, and Kishtwar highlights how easily they were issued and renewed in the state, NDTV reported.

The arms license racket was first uncovered by ATS Rajasthan in 2017 after they found criminals with licensed weapons issued by bureaucrats in Jammu and Kashmir. The ATS Rajasthan also discovered over 3,000 licenses issued in the name of army personnel based on fake documents.

Despite attempts by the PDP-BJP government in the state to shield the accused under the guise of a Vigilance probe, then Governor NN Vohra handed over the case to the CBI after the imposition of Governor’s rule in 2018. In March 2020, the CBI arrested an IAS officer who had issued thousands of licenses during his tenure as the district magistrate of Kupwara.

  • Uttar Pradesh man who rescued, cared for Sarus crane booked

Uttar Pradesh man who rescued, cared for Sarus crane booked

    [ad_1]

Amethi: The Forest department has filed a case and issued a notice to an Uttar Pradesh man who rescued a Sarus crane and took care of it for a year, officials said.

The crane, which lived with Arif Khan Gurjar in the Mandkha village of Amethi district, accompanied him to his fields and was accepted “like a family member”, was taken away by Forest department officials on March 21.

The bird was shifted to the Samaspur sanctuary in Rae Bareli to allow it to live in its natural environment, an official had said.

On Saturday, the department issued a notice to Gurjar and asked him to appear at the office of the Gauriganj divisional forest officer on April 4 to record his statement.

According to the notice issued by Assistant Divisional Forest Officer (Gauriganj) Ranvir Singh, Gurjar has been booked under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act.

A day after the bird was taken away, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav held a press conference during which he condemned the Forest department action and asked indirectly if any official had the courage to take away the peacocks at the prime minister’s residence.

Gurjar sat on the dais with the former chief minister but did not speak.

Yadav had visited Gurjar after he gained fame due to his “friendship” with the bird. He had also shared pictures of himself with the bird and Gurjar on social media.

Responding to Yadav’s allegations, Divisional Forest Officer DN Singh had said, “Whatever action has been taken is with Arif’s (Gurjar) consent.”

The official said these birds always live in pairs. Since this one was living alone, there was some apprehension about its wellbeing.

On Thursday, Yadav alleged that the crane had gone missing before being rescued by some local residents. Forest officials, however, had denied the claim.
