Advises People to Take Precautions, Avoidance from Venturing in Avalanche Prone Areas
Srinagar, Jan 30 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority on Sunday issued avalanche warning for ten districts in upcoming 24 hours, amid prevailing inclement weather conditions.
The authority has warned of possible ‘High Danger Level’ avalanche above 2500 metres above sea-level over Doda, Kishtwar and Poonch districts.
Avalanche with ‘Medium Danger Level’ is likely to occur above 1500 to 2500 metres over Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Kulgam and Ramban, reads the advisory as per GNS.
Avalanche with ‘Low Danger Level’ is likely to occur above 1500 metres over Anantnag district.
“People living in these areas are advised to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas”, the advisory reads. (GNS)

JKDMA Issues Avalanche Warning for 10 Districts

Avalanche Washes Away Two Girls

SRINAGAR: Two girls were buried alive after a massive avalanche hit Tangole Village in Kargil district on Sunday. The dead bodies of both the girls have been recovered.
According to reports with the help of the locals, Ladakh Police party and Basij e Baqiyatullah Kargil reached the spot and recovered both dead bodies.
The deceased were identified as Kulsum, 11 and Bilques 23 year old.
LAHDC Kargil CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan has expressed his condolence to the family of the victims and prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased.
He hailed the efforts of Ladakh Police personnel and volunteers of Baseej-e-Baqiyatullah (ASZ) and said that the rescue operation of finding the bodies of both the girls within hours of the Avalanche is highly commendable.

SRINAGAR: An avalanche hit Hussangam village of Tulail in Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday, however, no loss of life or damage has been reported in the area.
Quoting an official the news agency KNO reported that the avalanche hit Hussangam village today afternoon.
He said soon after the incident teams from the administration rushed to the spot to assess the situation even as no damage or loss of life has been reported.
Meanwhile, residents have been advised to take precautions and avoid venturing out in avalanche prone areas.
Earlier, avalanche warning was issued for 12 districts including Bandipora by J&K Disaster Management Authority.

Avalanche Warning Issued For Nine Districts In JK

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority has issued an avalanche warning for at least nine districts for next 24 hours.
Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) in a statement said that an avalanche with low danger level is likely to occur above 2500 metres over Anantnag, Bandipore, Baramula, Doda, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Kupwara, Poonch, Ramban in next 24 hours.
General public is advised to have valley movement with care. Avoid movement on slopes, JKDMA said in a statement.

According to news agency GNS the JKDMA has cautioned that avalanche with ‘Low’ Danger Level is likely to occur above 2500 metres over Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal and Kupwara district and areas above 2000 metres in Kulgam and Anantnag districts.
Similarly, the Disaster Manager Authority has expressed its apprehension of ‘Medium’ Danger Level above 2500 metres over Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban districts.
People living in the notified areas have been advised to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas.
