Bereaved Families Extend Gratitude to District Admin Kupwara, DH Handwara Management, Police, BSF

Handwara | Kupwara, Feb 13 (GNS): Nearly 6 days after remaining in a mortuary at District Hospital Handwara, corpses of four Tangdhar residents were airlifted in a chopper, lent by Border Security Forces, to their native places here on Monday.
As reported, bodies of four persons namely Shabir Ahmad Khawaja son of Abdul Rasheed, resident of Dildar Karnah, who passed on February 8 at Bemina Srinagar; Sahib Jan wife of Ali Shan Bhadana, resident of Amrohi, who passed at SMHS Hospital Srinagar February 9; Mohammad Saeed son of Mohammad Yaqoob Qureshi, resident of Nawagabra who passed at SKIMS Soura and one Haleema Fatima, resident of Panjtaran, which reached the hospital on Sunday night, were kept in the mortuary at District Hospital Handwara, due to blockade of roads in the aftermath of recent snowfall.
After fervent appeal by the bereaved families to district administration and other relevant offices, district administration Kupwara reciprocated well and requisitioned for the chopper services to airlift the bodies.
Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray had a few days before told GNS that the office has sent a chopper requisition to lift the bodies as per flying conditions.
The bodies (alongside attendants) were accordingly evacuated in an ambulance from District Hospital Handwara at 8:55 AM to Zangli, from where they were boarded in a chopper, lent by Border Security Forces, at 9:24 AM on Monday.
An official in the knowhow of things told GNS that it normally takes some 20 odd minutes for a chopper to reach Tangdhar from Zangli launchpad.

Before leaving DH Handwara, the bereaved families extended their gratitude to District Administration Kupwara and Handwara Hospital management for making it possible for them to take the bodies back to their native places.
“We are highly thankful to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattaray, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Handwara Dr. Nissar Ahmad, SSP Kupwara Yougal Manhas and Border Security Forces for all the assistance provided”, they said.
In a somewhat similar case, the district administration alongside DH Handwara, dispatched bodies of two elderly persons to their native places, Karnah and Tangdhar, earlier this month. (GNS)

Ex-Kerala CM Oommen Chandy airlifted to Bengaluru for further treatment

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader and former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy was on Sunday airlifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru, party sources said.
Chandy had been admitted to a private hospital in nearby Neyyattinkara for treatment after he was infected with pneumonia.
The Congress veteran, who was taken out of the hospital in a wheelchair, thanked the doctors and staff of the hospital and said there was no basis for the concerns regarding the treatment given to him.
“There is no basis for the controversy related to my treatment,” Chandy said in a feeble voice to the media. His wife, two daughters and son, Chandy Oommen, accompanied the senior leader to Bengaluru.
On Saturday, AICC general secretary in-charge of organisation K C Venugopal had said the Congress has decided to shift Chandy to a hospital in Bengaluru.
Earlier, concerns were raised from various quarters over his deteriorating health.
His relatives had alleged that the veteran Congress leader was being denied proper medical care by his close family members.
As the social media was abuzz with reports of his health condition, Chandy had posted a video on his son’s Facebook page, claiming that he was given proper care by his family and the party.

The development came after Chandy’s 42 close relatives, including his younger brother, sent a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan seeking his urgent intervention to provide better treatment for his predecessor.
Chandy has not been keeping well since 2019. He was taken to Germany a few months ago after his throat-related ailment aggravated. Chandy, who represents Puthuppally constituency in the state Assembly since 1970, was chief minister of Kerala twice.

SRINAGAR: The Indian army and Air force on Wednesday rescued a pregnant woman in distress from a remote LoC village in Jammu division’s Kishtwar district.

Quoting an army officer news agency Kdc reported that one Sakeena Begum, a resident of Chanjer village in Nowpachi, Tehsil Marwah, was in a critical condition due to pregnancy complications. With the help of the Indian Army and the Air Force, the patient was airlifted to Kishtwar district hospital, saving her life and touching many others in the process, he said.
The region is facing many challenges due to the heavy snow and harsh weather conditions, making it difficult for residents to access medical facilities, the officer said, adding that in such cases, the Indian Army provides crucial support and assistance to those in need.
“The Indian Army is always at the forefront, providing support and assistance to the people of our country, especially in difficult and challenging situations,” said the residents. “Their aim is to ensure that all citizens have access to medical facilities and receive the necessary medical attention.” added the residents.
The airlifting of Sakeena Begum was a testament to the dedication and commitment of the Indian Army and the Air Force, who were able to provide timely assistance despite the constraints and difficulties they faced. The operation was carried out with precision and efficiency, ensuring that the patient received the medical attention she needed.

They have once again proved their commitment to saving lives and serving the nation,” said Abdul Qadir, a resident of Chanjer village.
