The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to intrude with the Bombay High Court order for a CBI probe into former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh’s allegations of corruption towards former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

“We are of the view that the nature of allegations, the persons involved and the seriousness of the allegations do require an independent agency to inquire into the matter,” a Bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul mentioned, with out moving into niceties of the excessive courtroom’s order.
