Tragedy continues to unfold in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, as the death toll among security forces rises to four in an ongoing encounter with militants in the region. Despite challenging conditions exacerbated by rain, authorities remain steadfast in their efforts to neutralize the threat.

Quoting official sources, the Kashmir Scroll news agency reported that on Friday, another brave army soldier succumbed to his injuries sustained during the intense exchange of gunfire, further compounding the loss suffered by the security forces. The fallen soldier’s identity has not yet been disclosed.

The search operation within the cordoned-off area has entered its third day, with the security forces displaying unwavering determination to bring the situation under control.

In an attempt to gain a tactical advantage and locate the militants who have entrenched themselves in the forested, hilly terrain, officials have deployed drones. These aerial devices are being employed to pinpoint the exact positions of the militants, allowing the security forces to devise a more precise strategy.

The encounter in the Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Gadole region unfolded on Wednesday morning, resulting in the tragic loss of three valiant officers. Colonel Manpreet Singh, the commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles unit of the Army, Major Ashish Dhonchak, and Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat were among those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
