J&K: 870 temporary employees are not registered on NIC portal, deprived of salary for two years

The Jammu and Kashmir government considers 870 temporary employees working in the PDD department as bonded labourers. The department has not paid salaries to these employees for two years, while they are rendering regular services during this period. After the PDD department became a corporation, the employees were asked to register on the NIC portal, most of the employees registered, but 870 employees could not register.

Due to this these employees are not getting salary. On Thursday, under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Casual Labor United Front, these employees demonstrated outside the JPDCL office in Panama Chowk. During this, the General Secretary of the Front, Mohammad Shabir said that the employees are being treated like bonded labourers. Employees are providing services but not getting salary.

During this period of inflation, it has become very difficult to work without pay. During this, the protesting employees met Gurmeet Singh, MD of JPDCL. Gurmeet Singh assured the employees that they would keep their issue in the board meeting of the department. During this, the protesters said that our protest will now continue regularly. During this, Kamal Singh, Ramesh, Khaleel Ahmed, Abdul Ghani, Mohammad Salim etc. were present.
