A task force will be constituted at the district level to ensure the care and safety of children who have lost their parents or both due to corona in Jammu and Kashmir. The task force will identify such children and provide them the benefits of government schemes. The task force will also identify those families whose only earning member of the family died in the corona pandemic.
The state government has announced scholarship for such children and pension for families. All information regarding these children will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee. This committee will take a decision on their rehabilitation and other future welfare related issues. Psychological counseling of such children will also be done.
Apart from the Kovid affected child, their parents will also be involved in this counseling. These children will be registered at the district level. It will be the responsibility of the Deputy Commissioners to hold a meeting of the task force and submit the status report to the government after every 15 days.
District Magistrate will be the chairman
In this task force, in addition to making the District Magistrate the Chairman, the Chief Medical Officer, Additional SP, District Social Welfare Officer Member, District Child Protection Officer Member Secretary, Chairperson Child Welfare Committee or any other member of the Committee and Child Care Institution on behalf of the District Magistrate. Any NGO running the NGO shall be nominated as a member.
