Jammu and Kashmir: Police security system will be strengthened in the border areas, a batch of local SPOs will be deployed

After more than three months of rigorous training, a special batch of SPOs are going to be posted in the areas adjoining the India-Pakistan International Border. This will strengthen the security system of the police in the border areas even more. Simultaneously, the SPOs will further strengthen the border grid by working shoulder to shoulder with the border guards. These days a batch of 74 SPOs including Women SPOs are regularly attending various training sessions. These SPOs are being trained for proficiency in border management techniques, handling law and order problem, assisting police, border guards, administration in times of emergency situations, especially during cross border firing. SSP Kathua Ramesh Chandra Kotwal told that there was a demand from various sections that local youth should be deployed in the border areas, as they are well aware of the area and take immediate action. This process was initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs, after which SPOs were deployed in batches in border districts like Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri for border management.
