The Sports Council team reached Basohli on Wednesday to identify the land for the water sports center at Ranjit Sagar Lake. The tourism department and two to three other sites adjacent to Ranjit Sagar Lake have also been shown to the Sports Council, out of which a land of seven and a half kanals has been found suitable by the Sports Council team. With the land being provided by the administration, the work of preparing jetty and boat shed at the site will start. According to sources, it will be executed within a month of the land becoming available.
Along with tourism, activities related to water sports are expected to accelerate the economic and physical development of the region. In which now the local administration has to play its important role by providing land. On the other hand, keeping in view the interest of youth in organizing traditional riot matches in Basohli and other parts of the district, the Sports Council is going to prepare two open arenas in the stadium being built at Palahi, Basohli.
The leveling of the land has been done. In such a situation, youth can be trained in these akhadas by fencing. The Sports Council is considering a plan to invite coaches from the Wrestling Federation for the same after sensing the trends of the youth.
