This was stated by the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla at the inauguration of Double Lane Biraj in Khumriyal. He said that the time has come that the benefits of development are reaching the people of remote and border areas like Kupwara.

The minister, who was on a two-day visit to Kupwara district as part of the Central Government’s public relations program, said that an amount of Rs 614.98 lakh would be spent on the bridge. This will connect the Lolab Valley with the rest of the district. The Minister also flagged off an ambulance of Chinar Charity Foundation (local NGO) dedicated to the poor cancer patients of the area as a free service.

The Minister said that the Government of India always encourages social service and there are many schemes for financial assistance of NGOs. The Minister visited paddy fields in Kalarus and inquired about the availability of job cards and benefits of farmer welfare schemes from the local people.

The Minister inspected the stalls of ICDS, Social Welfare, Handicrafts at Government Degree College Kupwara in the afternoon.
