Minister of State John Barla inaugurated the bridge in Khamuriyal, connecting different places of the district. The Minister said that the Government of India has many welfare schemes for every section of the society and benefits are being provided.

The minister, who was on a two-day visit to Kupwara district as part of the Central Government’s public relations program, said that an amount of Rs 614.98 lakh would be spent on the bridge. This will connect the Lolab Valley with the rest of the district. The Minister also flagged off an ambulance of Chinar Charity Foundation (local NGO) dedicated to the poor cancer patients of the area as a free service.
The Minister said that the Government of India always encourages social service and there are many schemes for financial assistance of NGOs. The Minister visited paddy fields in Kalarus and inquired about the availability of job cards and benefits of farmer welfare schemes from the local people.
The Minister said that the Government of India has many welfare schemes for every section of the society and benefits are being provided. On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Imam Deen, SSP Kupwara Dr. GV Sandeep were also present. The Minister inspected the stalls of ICDS, Social Welfare, Handicrafts at Government Degree College Kupwara in the afternoon.
