There was a ruckus on Tuesday in Udhampur regarding the removal of encroachment campaign. The street vendors got into a scuffle with the team of the city council that went to remove the street vendors in the declared no street zone. During this, the goods of many street vendors were confiscated, while the melee items were also vandalized. The street vendors called the action a conspiracy against a select few. At the same time, the city council said that the drive to remove encroachment from the city will continue even further.

The city council has declared many parts of the city as no street zones. Along with this, many times he warned of strict action for setting up street vendors, but still the street vendors are not ready to accept it. Encroachment is being encouraged by installing street vendors in different parts of the city. On Tuesday, at 2.30 pm, the city council team, under the leadership of Khilavarjee Inspector, reached Salathia Chowk and started capturing street vendors one by one. But some street vendors started protesting about this.

The protest escalated so much that a scuffle broke out. It was not possible to take all the street vendors to the city council office, so Khilabarji took possession of the scales of some street vendors and threw them down on the spot and broke them. The street vendors also opposed the functioning of the team. The street vendors said that the city council team targets only a few street vendors as part of the conspiracy. There are hundreds of unlicensed street vendors in the market, no street zones, but every time only a few are targeted. If action has to be taken, it should be done on everyone.
