To encourage the soldiers posted on the LoC and LAC, 29566 cards filled with the spirit of patriotism arrived at the Northern Command Headquarters on Tuesday morning. These cards have been prepared by the NCC cadets of Gujarat. Lt Gen YK Joshi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command read out the messages written in it at a function organized at the headquarters on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The cards filled with patriotism had reached Udhampur in the early hours of Tuesday and were received by Army Chief, Northern Command, YK Joshi. Speaking at the card presentation ceremony, YK Joshi said that the patriotic spirit displayed by the NCC cadets is less than appreciated. The people of Gujarat and the NCC cadets have made a unique effort to encourage the soldiers. The army will now deliver all these cards to the soldiers posted on the LAC and LoC.

He said that a British writer, philosopher and theologian GK Chesterton once said that a true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him. He said that no soldier enters the war just to destroy. He moves not because he is trying to break free from something, but because he is bound by something.

He told that on July 17, 2021, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had flagged off a consignment of 29566 cards. All the cards are dedicated to Kargil martyrs. He informed that the effort of the cadets has been recognized by the World Book of Records, London and they have been awarded with the Certificate of Commitment. The card is a step towards immortalizing the spirit of the soldiers with which the warriors fought and conquered the rocky heights along the Line of Control during Operation Vijay.
