Jammu. In the last phase of monsoon, the weather has taken a turn again. In many districts of Jammu division, there was relief from the heat and humidity due to the torrential rains on Wednesday. There was a feeling of coolness in many hilly areas. Heavy rains affected normal life in Jammu and Katra. Chappar service was disrupted in Katra. Due to the incessant rain throughout the day, the market was missing. The Meteorological Center Srinagar has warned of heavy rain with lightning in some parts of Jammu division on Thursday and Friday in the next 48 hours. This may affect the Jammu Srinagar National Highway. The weather pattern will remain bad till September 11. Its effect will be visible in Kashmir also.
Wednesday started with rain in Jammu amid thunderstorms. Several hours of heavy rain led to waterlogging in low-lying areas. Two-wheeler drivers and pedestrians had to face difficulties in movement on the roads. The rain stopped in the afternoon, but it remained cloudy till late in the evening. Indradev was kind even in Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. Here the state received maximum rain in the last twenty four hours. It also rained in Bhaderwah and Batote. Five villages were cut off after the approach road of a footbridge collapsed at Budhal in Rajori. There has been relief from the heat in the Kashmir division, but most of the districts have not received any rain.

Day temperature dropped to seven degrees in Jammu division
Due to the changed weather in Jammu division, the day temperature has dropped by 4 to 7 degrees above normal in many districts. The rain has brought down the temperature. This has made the night cooler. According to meteorologists, the feeling of coolness will start increasing from the middle of September. The day temperature in Jammu on Wednesday fell slightly below normal to 33.0 degrees Celsius and last night’s minimum temperature was 25.8 degrees Celsius. The day temperature in Banihal of the division fell 4.5 degrees below normal to 23.2, Batote 4.5 degrees below normal to 21.5, Katra 5.7 degrees to 24.3 and Bhaderwah 6.2 degrees to 22.7 degrees Celsius. The day temperature was 27.0 in Srinagar, 22.2 in Pahalgam and 19.0 degree Celsius in Gulmarg. The day temperature was 26.4 in Leh and 32.0 degree Celsius in Kargil.
