The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) will decide its strategy only after the Supreme Court’s stand on delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir is clear. PAGD President Dr. Farooq Abdullah said this to the media after the meeting on Wednesday.

The meeting of PAGD was called after six months at Mehbooba Mufti’s residence. Earlier, the meeting of these parties was held on December 24 after the DDC elections. It was decided in the meeting that now the spokesperson of PAGD will be Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami of CPI(M).

Dr. Abdullah said in response to a question from the media that we have filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the delimitation. Only after a decision comes from there will we take a clear stand on our strategy. Regarding the purpose of convening the meeting of PAGD after six months, he said that we were not sitting together for a long time, due to Kovid also precaution has to be taken.

Now the effect of Kovid has reduced a bit, so the meeting was called. On the rumors going on in Kashmir, he said that we are also listening but do not know anything. The center will do whatever it has to do, we rely on Allah. Hope whatever happens will be good. On the issue of talks with the central government, Dr. Abdullah said that we have not closed any door for talks, they will be seen when they call. We want the well being of our people. Farooq said that the local children in Kashmir are caught by the police whenever. The Lt Governor is requested to close it. Otherwise the situation will become difficult to handle.

Will not resign, will fight in Parliament
Dr. Abdullah was asked whether he would resign if any such decision comes from the Center in future which is against the local people. On this he said that not at all, he will struggle by staying in the same system. By staying in Parliament, we will continue to fight for our rights till we are alive. The opposition is already unanimous on various issues in the country and will continue to do so.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah presided over the meeting called at Mehbooba’s residence on Gupkar Road. PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, CPI(M)’s Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami, NC’s Hasnain Masoodi, Awami National Conference’s Muzaffar Ahmed Shah, Mehboob Baig and Javed Mustafa Mir Bhai attended the meeting. It started around 5.10 pm and lasted for about an hour.
