Srinagar, Feb 18 (GNS): National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday said that three vehicles have been seized by it in connection with a case related to militant activities of former Police officer Devender Singh who was arrested in 2020.
“On 15.02.2023, NIA seized 93) vehicles u/s 25 (1) of the UA (P), Act in the case under investigation of NIA viz RC-01/2020/NIA/JMU,” NIA said in a statement, according to GNS. These vehicles were used by accused persons for the furtherance of activities in Kashmir Valley and include Hyundai i20 Car bearing registration no. JK-03H-1738; Maruti 800 Car bearing registration No. JK-13B-0814 and Hyundai i20 Sportz Car bearing registration No. JK-01AK-8878, NIA said.
The , he said, case pertains to arrest of four accused persons including two active militants of Hizb-ul- Mujahideen (Hizb), “who were going out of the J&K in order to commit (militant) acts, in a Hyundai i20 Car bearing Registration No. JK-03H-1738.”
“ Based on information, this car was intercepted at Al-Stop naka on Srinagar-Jammu Highway, near Mir Bazar Police Post, District Kulgam (J&K), on 11.01.2020,” NIA said, adding, “During search, one AK-47 Rifle, 03 pistols, 01 hand grenade, ammunition and other incriminating material were recovered and seized.” The case was initially registered in police station Qazigund, District Kulgam on 11.01.2020 and re-registered by NIA on 17.01.2020.
“Investigations have revealed that the Hyundai i20 owned and used by accused Irfan Shafi Mir, Maruti 800 registered in the name of Mushtaq Ahmad Shah and used by his son accused Syed Naveed Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, and Hyundai i20 Sportz registered and used by Tanveer Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Ahmad Wani resident of Humhama, Srinagar (J&K), were used for (militant) activities in Kashmir Valley,” NIA said, adding, “Further investigations in the case are in progress.” (GNS)
