COVID-19: Madhya Pradesh declares journalists as ‘frontline workers’

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Madhya Pradesh on Monday declared media professionals accredited with the state authorities as ‘frontline staff’.

While making the announcement, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan mentioned journalists have been risking their lives whereas doing their responsibility throughout this “dangerous period of COVID-19 pandemic”.

“Therefore, we have decided to declare all accredited journalists as frontline workers in Madhya Pradesh. They will be taken care of,” Chouhan mentioned in a video assertion posted on the Twitter deal with of the Chief Minister’s Office.

Around 4,000 journalists are presently accredited with the state authorities, in line with a public relations division official.

The official mentioned the state authorities was but to resolve on different modalities concerning this announcement.

Madhya Pradesh reported 12,662 new COVID-19 instances on Sunday, which took its an infection tally to five,88,368, whereas 94 deaths pushed the fatality rely to five,812, as per official knowledge.
