New Delhi, June 9
Former Union Minister Jitin Prasada, once close to Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday quit the Congress and joined the BJP at party headquarters in New Delhi.
The 47-year-old leader from UP is said to have met Home Minister Amit Shah. The development comes as another blow to the Congress ahead of elections in UP scheduled for next year.
Sources in fact say that more prominent leaders are likely to join the BJP in the run up to the elections.
While it remains to be seen what Prasada brings to the table politically, political observers say it is more about perceptions and the Congress leader trying to resurrect his career.
