Dhaka, April 25

Bangladesh on Sunday closed its border with India for 2 weeks in view of the sharp enhance in the coronavirus cases in the neighbouring nation.

“We are closing it (border) for the passengers for the time being…,” Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen informed reporters.

“Bangladesh took the decision in view of rapid increase of coronavirus infection in India,” he added.

He stated the land routes for individuals’s motion to and from the neighbouring nation can be closed for 2 weeks however the goods-laden automobiles can be allowed to function.

“The higher authorities have decided to close the borders for two weeks…The land routes with India will be shut from April 26,” Home Minister Asaduzzamman Khan Kamal informed the Kalerkantha newspaper.
